Oops.....The permit says target= Berea-Clinton

I'm more confused than you.  I thought the Clinton was above the Utica in the Silurian.   They don't have to drill through the Utica to get to the Clinton, at least I don't think they do.  This is when I generally say HELP!!!!!!!

Matthew, if the permit says Berea-Clinton, they would have to plug back a long ways. I suppose it's possible.

Here in Western Pa. the Utica is above the Trenton Black River.

JODI,

 That lease allows the driller to bore through (but not produce) the Utica Layer so that they can drill into and produce the Rose Run layer.  But don't be confused by thinking that the lease cannot be ammended to eventually allow production from the Utica/PP at a later date, given some extra negotiations.

Ok, but the permit says target Berea-Clinton per ODNR.

Jodi,

 Yes, the current target, limited by the ODNR Permit, is only to the Berea-Clinton, which is above the Utica ( no drilling below Utica ), for now.  The ODNR Permit is more restrictive than what the Lease allows.  Only time will tell what this driller's final plan will be: Produce the BC, HPB, Flipping, Renegotiate & ammend contract to allow Utica ?
