Lets see ...

 

 1,700,000 acres / 200 Acres per well is 8,500 wells (+/-)

 

 So far, 7 Wells "Producing" and 10 wells "Completed"

 with 16 rigs drilling in Ohio for about 14 months.

 

 So far, about 1 well per month.

Olive,

 

 Preparing the PAD does not seem to be an issue.

 There are many completed pads with fences and locks just waiting for RIGS.

 Rigs?  Rigs?  Rigs?

 The first bottleneck appears to be a shortage of Drilling Rigs.

 

 The Fracking process seems to go very quickly.

 Then we get to COMPLETION.

 Another bottleneck is getting from COMPLETION to PRODUCING.

 Pipes?  Pipes?  Pipes?

 Infrastructure to transport the raw gas from the well seems to be another bottleneck.

To bad we ripped out most of the 

train, train, train tracks

and closed most of the steel

mills, mills, mills

and lost so many machine

shops, shops, shops. 

Now we have to build more.

When I see one piece of machined tubing with flanges on a big truck rolling down the highway,  got to figure it is holding up a project somewhere to be shipped by itself.

Dan,

 Luckily, we still have a large percentage of our train tracks in Columbiana County. And I suspect the new CHPK separation/purification plant, to be built near Hanoverton, will be placed adjacent to a set of active rails.

 

  Are the Steel & Tubing mills in Mahoning & Trumbull county keeping up with demand? Has Chesapeake ever stated that they cannot purchase Drill Pipe fast enough? I would not build a new Steel Mill just to supply Drill Pipe for an industry that will be gone in 20 years. Then what? Go bankrupt? Boom / Bust cycles are so hard to manage when times are good.

 

 Columbiana County has machine shops and custom fabrication plants that can handle any type of request from CHPK or other Driller, except maybe build an entire Drill Rig.

This will probably be a 50+ year boom/bust.  Plenty of time for prosperity.

All of the above, are the same reasons we have preached since 2008, slow down and evaluate the market trends, the early signing of leasehold was for the land rush,not the drilling.  Many folks took the bait and thought it was sign up or miss out.  Even today in the counties of Tusc and Holmes, Coshocton and Muskingum folks are being told sign up now or else.  

  I spoke to one of the majors back in Feb. 2010, their reply then was this....''we will not be leasing in the Utica/Point Pleasant until the infrastructure is built and there are proven data results to justify the entry buy in, besides why start the clock tickin on a 5year primary when it may take that long to build the midstream.'' THEN also added, ''however, if there is HBP leasehold FOR SALE,we will entertain a joint venture or a buy out''.....

    I was told in 2008 that the marcellus didn't come that far west, we replied at that time it's not the marcellus it is the Point Pleasant.   Some wise man once said,  ''knowledge is power''  man was he right.

    I still am extremely excited about the potential growth here in Eastern Ohio and look forward to the day that we are no longer called the Rust Belt. The growth has started as we have seen here in my home county of Harrison two $600 million plants to be constructed, the Markwest facility in Cadiz and the Momentum M3 in Scio, and potentially a 3rd plant to be from NiSource.

  Thinking outside the box,being willing to explore our natural resources to the fullest extent in a enviromentally safe and sound process will lead us to job  creation.  One last point, what happens here stays here and we would like to keep our severence not share it with Dayton, Lima, Cinncy and those who do not own the minerals, these are our minerals that the good Lord placed here,we happen to be the current stewards and yes Governor Kasich we,Eastern Ohioans  are capable of taking care of ourself.
