Marcellus in Eastern Ohio?

Hi,

Does anyone think eastern Ohio has enough Marcellus shale to worry about when drawing up or revising a lease? I know or was told it thins out coming into eastern Ohio (columbiana county) and is there anything that in time above the Marcellus or below it that may be worth something later?
If I revise my lease I might fight to have it say only from the queenston down since right now it says all except coal, gravel, etc. but I'm not sure it's worth it and if it would be better to try and get some other change. What I have no idea yet.

  IF that "Painter" Rose-Run Sandstone well was drilled today, it would have generated $4.3 Million in Oil Sales in the first year. Break-Even in only about 12 months and it would generate about $22 Million Oil Sales over it's lifetime. WOW! Yes, that would be highly profitable even as a Horizontal Well. The Painter Well is the kind of well that the Marcellus drillers dream about!

 

 Ormet Well  =   8,000 barrels - 1st year (Marcellus Horz Well)

 Painter Well = 43,000 barrels - 1st year (Rose Run Sandstone well)

Just the kind of reply I expected. We are both making assumptions about the Marcellus in Ohio. Your's are negative, and mine are positve. Do you own land and/or mineral rights in Jefferson, Belmont, or Monroe counties? If you own land in Ohio, do you have Marcellus wells in your part of the state?

The Ormet well is being choked back due to lack of infrastructure. In the Appalachia MH April 2012 "Corporate Presentation" to investors, look closely at page 28 "Marcellus Operations" and the Ormet well reference.

They replied back to my email asking for the production numbers and said they would forward it to the right department who will than get back to me. I hope they do since it will be interesting to see it.

I decided and I guess it wasn't a hard decision if dps penn comes back about the unit change we will ask to reserve above the queenstone. My lawyer feels pretty strong if they won't just give in he should be able to get it for us, otherwise I may not give at all. Their production costs drop and their profits are higher so they should give us this. Every calculator shows they double their money while we stay the same if production doubles due to doubling the unit size which I know may not be the case.

Ya know  we are talking about formations, what we have paid notice too is the technology that could be used in other formations thus we are considering a buffet instead of  A la carte menu.  I think perhaps we that have not leased should look at multipul leases. Drill Baby suggest reserve the Queenston and above but look what might below! 

  More than one person has stated the O&G knows far more than we do, well I would hope they would  but taking advantage with that knowledge in my opinion is wrong. I posted this well which is in a cluster of about 5 or six near Hebron, Ohio just west of the town. Look at the production of those wells that were only vertically drilled in the Rose Run that is below the Queenston or Utica. Note that these did not drop off no 60% the first year! These are different wells in that cluster.
