...that I believe are promoting some fallacious and dangerous ideology.  One of the ideas promoted is that, just as only white men's rights were originally recognized in this country, then black men and then women, now they want to bestow "rights" on things like plants, geographical features, streams, lakes, oceans, aquifers, eco-systems, etc.

With such a move, property rights become greatly restricted.  Such thinking will allow a neighbor to bring a lawsuit on behalf of trees against his neighbor for harvesting timber (A person told me of just such a case in Maine).

It also seeks to prevent gas drilling and other activities.

Rather than addressing the root issue, which is the lack of accountability when a corporation or individual injures someone (or a group of people) thanks to the protection of state or federal regulations, it seeks to restrict the rights of people based upon majority rule adoption of these draconian ordinances.
