As with many people, I have been trying to keep up with the progress of the GDEIS and Findings for the SEQRA that was mandated by the NYSDEC for the gas drilling.

Has anyone heard what is going on? I know that the NYSDEC recieved all of the comments on the GDEIS, and that there has been quite a bit of opposition to the drilling from the environmental activists. Is there a date for NYSDEC to release there findings?

What are the possiblities that the NYSDEC may even start issueing permits this summer?

Good question. I guess nobody knows.
No one knows FOR SURE yet.
I have heard from several reliable sources that the DEC has every intention of issuing permits this summer.
Until then it is a guessing game.
I have heard that since the whole gulf thing, that DEC may not go through with anything this year. Does anyone else have any info?
SGEIS
DEC has no planned release date
pretty slim chances of horizontal Marcellus permits this summer
you may want to check out JLCNY.ORG for updates on the situation
Theres LOTS of rumors out there- there all the same, late NOVEMBER- just after election! My fingers are crossed..
I have heard from many gas guys that there in NO HURRY due to equipment, man, and mechanic shortage! No one wants to work anymore!!!!
They say they'll be done early fall then there will probably be a public comment period.Could issue permits for summer 2011,but the anti's want more time. Rumor around here is some are trying to change the landowner laws. Simply put, take our right to the gas away. Make it state property.Hard to believe, although I have heard the guestion personaly"How far done do you're rights go?"We are quite certain that the hold up is really. The State or New York City, probably both are trying to figure out how they will get a piece of the pie. If not all of it!
