Is it just me or does it seem lik eit is taking a lot longer than usual for the ohio supreme court to decide the case involving the look back period for the DMR and related issues?

Does anyone have any insight into when the decision may come or  what it will be ?

The decision was handed down yesterday. vote was 5-2 89 DMA was not self executing. there has to be a lot of happy severed mineral owners

and a lot of unhappy landowners

I just read the slip. Great news for mineral owners!

and maybe some bad new too if those happy landowners are next to a tract of minerals needed for a full unit are held by the greatly diluted ancestors of an obsolete mineral claim and they cant all be reached to give their permission to drill

"Some" already have their bonus money and could care less if they ever drill.

True but that is bad for the overall development

Will the state of OHIO now collect back taxes on those mineral rights that a lot of people did not know they had?

Can I get a discount on my property taxes if I have been paying taxes on minerals that aren't considered mine any more even though they haven't been claimed for 100 years until someone crawled out of the woodwork when they read an ad in the paper?
