If there is a malfunction on the pipeline that feeds a gas fired power plant does your lights go out or is there some type of storage at the power plant for that purpose

William,

Like Coal and Nuclear fired Electric Generators (Turbine-Generators), when a gas fired Turbine loses it’s fuel, the plant output breaker trips open to remove it from the grid, otherwise it becomes a motor load on the grid for a few seconds.

The Grid will reroute power to the homes and industries in your area with a possible momentary disturbance seen in your lighting. If things don’t go well in the breaker re-alignment, you could lose power until the problem is located and corrected.
