We received letters from Shell stating they made some accounting error and they would be deducting from our checks to recoup. This is clearly a lie to steal from use. No company in business for 100 years with automatic processing of everything could possible make a mistake. There was no explanation of the error just "Accounting Error"

does your lease give you the right to do an audit

Sadly these accounting errors are very common with almost every operator - Shell isn't the only one. Often they are caused by adjustments made by the gas buyer, and the operator isn't any happier to make the changes than you are. But I agree that these mistakes almost always go against the royalty holder (and the operator too if the gas buyer initiates the change), so the practice does appear questionable in many cases.

"No company in business for 100 years with automatic processing of everything could possible make a mistake."

This is the funniest thing I've read on the entire Internet.

well then I would have someone do an audit n c if all is legit

Seems like a well-reasoned response.

Wow guess Mr John won't be on here for very long

John, quit your whining and call Maggie at shell!  Let us know what you find out.

Gas boy. Many calls have gone to Shell and they just make up some BS.

sic an attorney on them!

The PA attorney General will be looking into them. They already found CHK robbing everyone. One lady got a bill for 100,000 instead of a royalty check. There are several crooks out there and I'm sure Shell is one of them
