Our family, along with several other families have been negotiating with several companies for a few thousand acres in a county in WV. One of the companies gave us the bull that they would just go ahead and take the gas from our land by drilling beside it. I understand that this was the "monster under the bed" type of crap. However, one of the families has someone that works for an oil and gas company and said that he thinks that if a drilling company lays a line beside an unleased piece of property and then fracks that line, they are allowed somewhere up to 300 feet or so on that unleased property where they can recover the minerals. Does anyone know what the regulations are on this?
