Ok....... now first how do you find out if you are going to be "part" of a well.  Would you be notified before permit was pulled or after..... and how far typically does the horizontal drill reach "as the crow flies"

Robert,

You may ( or may not ) be notified by CHPK if you are in a Production Unit.  If your lease requires Water Testing by CHPK then you should definately be contacted before Spud Date.  Some landowners learned they were in a production unit the day they received their first Royalty Check.  ODNR will post a minimum Unit Acres plat map (with landowner boundaries) soon.  Near the end of well completion, in 4 - 6 months,  the actual Production Unit plat map will posted.

The horizontal bores are typically one mile (+/-) long.

Thank you..... I am just under 2 miles from this well.... so close...But also I believe my lease states down to Utica and no further, so what would happen in that situation if I would have been within the mile.... thanks again

Robert,

Down to Utica and no further?  Really?

So Point Pleasant, Trenton and Black River are all excluded in your lease?

 WOW!

Are you sure your lease doesn't say "From the Utica and below is allowed" ?

My lease states, "From the Queenston Shale and above is RESERVED".

 OK,

The initial vertical well typically overshoots below the kick-off for the horizontal well.

They like to "snoop around" while they are down there.

I have no indication of were the Horizotal Well will kick-off, yet.

If true then you would need to re-negotiate your lease to allow CHPK to drill below Utica ???

I have an ALOV lease......did find something on first page of lease..."Specifically reserved by Lessor are all oil, gas and other mineral rights from the surface to top of the Queenston Shales........

Also having a well that close to me would that mean less likely of seeing one down the road....

Robert,

" ... Also having a well that close to me would that mean less likely of seeing one down the road ..."

 Assume nothing of the sort.

There are many wells in Columbiana that are very near each other

The Trebilcock and Henceroth wells are about 1 mile from each other.

In Mahoning County near ( Cala road ? ) ...

there are three wells within one mile.

 In Carroll County ...

The Coniglio well went South West towards the Bucey Well

The Bucey well went North West towards the Coniglio well

Only 2,000' in between the two wells?

Wells can be "grouped' to minimize gathering pipe work, too.

ALL depends on the LEASED land.

Robert,

OK, you have "Queenston and above RESERVED" that is typcial.

CHPK has from Utica and below, to center of the earth.  :-)

I think our lease doesn't even state which layers .  It is just general "everything gas/oil"

Another drawback of early signing.

US - also noticed on the recorder's site a unit under the name of Carney.   I think it would be in the Rogers vicinity - Middleton township- section 17 Carmel Achor/ Vale Rd area.   Have you seen anything on that?

This well being in Unity Twp also on edge of Fairfield Twp do we know what type of well this could be as far a wet/dry/oil  also is this an "old" lease situation...

I don't think they are looking for dry gas at this point.

Yes appears to be an Ohio Buckeye Energy lease assigned to them last year from Ohio River Exploration.  Now assigned to CHK/Utica.
