Hey everyone,

I really think we need to get more members onto this Guernsey County Site. I have been doing a lot of searching and info gathering on the Harrison County Site, but the more research I do, the more I am convinced that we are sitting on a great reserve. We appear to be right in the OIL RICH region of this Utica, and we need to get more of our neighbors in the county on to this page so we have lot's of information to go on as we go forward. I do not have the answer for how to do this, but I'm sure if we all work together we can grow this site. We currently have 27 members while Harrison has over 100 and even Monroe has over 40. Any ideas? I just want to be able to gather all the information I can to make a wise decision. THANKS!

I just used to facebook link to post it on my facebook profile.  See if that helps.  I am sure that some of my friends on FB are having some of the same questions that we did when we started on here.  Hopefully some of them will see my post & take advantage of the info that is being shared here.
Thanks. I am going to try and get the news around to people I know also.

Jon, agreed its a great resource but it appears that Guernsey Co is absent ..living in the last century.

Maybe I'll see you at the meeting.

Hello Lurkers ..!

Hey, for any of you who haven't seen it. The CEO of Chesapeake, Aubrey McClendon, was on Cramer Monday. There is a 10 minute clip with him talking about the Utica play in Ohio. Here is the link to the site. I found it very interesting and informative.....

We are new to this site, but have been " lurking " for a couple weeks.

A group of lawyers in Newcomerstown posted an announcement in

the Times Reporter about a landowners group in Tuscarawas County.

I e-mailed them about Guernsey and their reply was to contact their office

for more information. I haven't spoken to anyone yet, but will keep trying.

They claim to know much of what is going on in the county.

Let me know if anyone is interested. My wife will also post information about this on her Facebook account, hoping  that will bring more members.

Bill,

If the group is KWGD, several of us have been to one or more of their meetings and some of us have even signed an intention letter with them.

They are holding another information meeting at the Pritchard Laughlin Center this Tuesday (8/9/11) @ 6:00pm.

If it is not the same group, the meeting at the Pritchard would certainly be a good place for you to start and get some additional information.

Jon,

Thanks for the information. We missed the meeting! This group we talked to is:Connolly, Hillyer & Ong. The one that is doing most of the lease contract work is Brad Connolly & he is swamped with work at the Tuscarawas County courthouse. We talked at some length with his nephew(Ong) on Tuesday of this week. He took our name and phone number and told us Connelly would get back to us. The Newcomerstown office has also been swamped with phone calls from Guernsey Co. residents. For anyone interested the Newcomerstown Office number is:740-498-5196. They also have an office in Uhrichsville: 740-922-4161. We'll be checking the website for the next meeting. Thanks again....Bill

Hi Everyone

I'm new here. Live in Oxford Township. Eclipse have approached us about a Utica well. Sign on bonus is $2500. per acre.  We are brand new to this business.  I'm happy to have joined the Guernsey Co. site.

we had a lawyer look at the lease and he said all looks good.  We're excited to sign.

Would appreciate any input.  Has anyone else been approached by Eclipse?

Ken & Jill,

Welcome aboard ! I've not seen the Eclipse lease but have read many others. I attached the ALOV lease for you to compare... I think it represents of the best leases out there. Don't know how much you have dug into this but being here is a good thing. I would read both leases and compare .. its all english and its not all about the paid up bonus... my $.02

Steven, thanks so much.  I'm concerned that the company will be able to sell my land if I sign. Do you know?  It's supposed to be a lease.

Thanks!

JIll

They can lease or sub-lease your land to another company at a profit for them, unless there is language in the lease that keeps them from doing this. Be sure your lease addresses this and that you at least get more $$ if they lease it to someone else.

A lease is just that .. not a fee simple transfer of the surface but.. its all in the wording of the document they present to you. I would have an attorney that is knowlegble in current Oil & Gas issues look over the document before signing if you are unsure.

You may want to contact a group that has formed over your way in the Londonderry area also.. contact me for more info..
