Has anyone had any experience with Red Hill Development in the past ? (A Kimble Company)

I called and spoke with a rep from Oxford a couple of hours ago. I asked them about the status of my lease with them. They told me that they are possibly going to be moving back into Harrison county. I was told that they are possibly going to be drillng into the Utica shale . This is a big change from when I spoke with them last summer when I was told they would not be drilling in Harrison. I told them that I did not know they had the capabilities to drill at that depth. They explained that they could and have drilled that deep in the past. They said that if they could not get to me as far as drilling is concerned before my lease expires they would be asking for an extension. What do you think ?

Scott, will Oxford be competitive with Chesapeake?

Dan, in Jefferson County DPS Penn is the direct representative for Chesapeake.
If you want to know who the actual players are and not just companies out there trying to buy up leases for future sales visit the court house and see which company is doing the title searches.

Scott, these are old Kellermier oil leases they held open some how, I'm sure they havn't drilled on my brothers's property in the last 40 years.

Chuck are the old oil leases you spoke about with Oxford? I was told by Oxford that when my lease was up later this year that they would contact me to see if I was interested in renewing my lease with them.

I get the impression that there are hordes of them, but I guess I don't really know. What makes me think that is that my landman has said there are "lots" of them, and just in a 3 mile radius of me, of the landowners I have talked to, I have heard 3 different names for Kenyon landmen. I think they sort of have territories that they are working, but according to my landman, that's not set in stone, and they can really talk to anyone.

Then there are the 3rd party broker landmen. It all gets confusing.

So, just to be clear, there are no actual employees of Chesapeake working in this county (perhaps not anywhere in Ohio) as landmen. Kenyon is the official direct representative for Chesapeake, (which is actually operating in Ohio as Ohio Buckeye Energy.) Then there are the freelance landmen, of which I have heard of at least 3 or 4 in this county, that are contacting landowners. For a percentage of lease price they are trying to represent landowners' interests, and using their experience in the industry, claim that they can negotiate better terms with Kenyon than we can do on our own. They do this primarily by adding in addendums to the contract that protect the landowner, and by aggregating landowners into big enough chunks that it gives them a stronger negotiating point.

Of course, as freelancers, they can shop around among any gas company that might be interested, but Kenyon is the only real deal in town at the moment. That may be changing if Range Resources or some other big player moves into our area. I know that Tri-Star was contacting some landowners around me a couple monthes ago, but I guess they gave up, because they have never followed up with anyone. (Anyone feel free to correct me if I don't have any of this quite right.) .

Thank you Dan. Do you if there is one or more Landmen working in our county for Chesapeake ?

Does anyone know what the deal is with Roetzel and Andress?
Some neighbors are working through them.

Jerry and Dan,
Range Resoures called us and made the offer, but we already signed with Chesapeake.
Range Resoures did sign with two of our neighbors for $1500.00 and 15%,

Several local land owners have old leases with oil companies that would have expired soon, one is my Brother. The old oil company leases are being renewed somehow, and they are sub leasing to Chesapeake and others.
I couldn't get Chesapeake to even make an offer on my Brother's property, they said they would only deal with the current lease owner.
