Tom, I'm talking about Hanover Ridge east of SR 9.  I don't know offhand who did the mining.  I don't think Hanover Ridge west of SR9 has ever been stripped.

Our land on Keyser Road was drilled for core samples in the '60s or early '70s but was never mined. Who mined in the Ridge area?

Sorry all my fault, just didn't see the link,  I had company that night and was bragging up the site, and showing everyone, and overlooked, my bad.........Thanks,  Happy Holidays

Hi Rod,

You asked me this a day ago, and I hope you don't think I was being obnoxious with my response, because I just said "they are drilling right here," but if you notice, I made "here" a link that takes you to the google map that shows you right where it is. Anyway, here is that link again:

NOMAC Rig 43 Drilling Site

but basically it is off the south side of Hanover Ridge Road between SR 9 and Vale Road.

Tom, I found the permit documents, and as best as I can tell, the owner of the land is Kenneth Buell, but it appears that the mineral rights are owned by North American Coal Royalty Company.  All of that land around there on both sides of Hanover Ridge has been strip-mined, and was mostly owned by coal companies at the time, I think.  Some of it has been sold to private individuals over the years, but I guess they kept the mineral rights.

Dan,  whereabouts is this rig, I would like to take a drive by to see how much ground is disturbed and the amount of buzz in the area.  I live by the Sportsman club on Garner Road.  Rod

Hi James. I have a couple of questions for you. One is what kind of deal are you negotiating that is worth that kind of money?! Someone with around 1500 acres? Second, you bring up the issue about the gas company refusing to sign a modified landowner-friendly lease contract. How do we know when we have pushed the gas company too hard with demanding too much, so that they just walk away and we get left out of a drilling unit?

Tom, I don't know.  Someone could go to the courthouseto find out.

The tower is up now and they are finishing the assembly.  24/7 operation.  I imagine those guys are pretty cold.

Who owns the site where the rig is being erected?
