Just curious to see what everybody has observed in the way of lease solicitaions in our area. I am in Berlin Center and my neighbor stopped yesterday to tell me they were approached by MDE to lease their 8ac for CHK. Are they trying to tie up everything that's left in the area or lease for whats left to complete a unit? My thoughts were that the "land rush" was pretty well completed and they wouldn't be doing much soliciting due to the cash flows of chk unless the acreage was necessary; especially on a relatively small parcel like that. Opinions?

Permalink Reply by Corey Hendricks on May 14, 2012 at 9:25am First Offer. They said the landmen showed a map with the highlighted areas being lease. They said it had a "preferred" unit on it although the leased acreage was significantly less than the unleased acreage at this time. Now they are playing cat and mouse w/MDE
Permalink Reply by JDM on May 14, 2012 at 10:28am MDE is also playing cat and mouse with me as well.....I dont' trust them and I don't think that they even try to neogiate at all....just tell you that CHK said No...
Permalink Reply by Springfield Bob on June 7, 2012 at 9:50am Hilcorp Energy is also leasing in Mahoning county. They are signing small landholders as well as large in Mahoning. Supposedly they have just started a well in Pulaski (PA). Offers are in the 5k with 20% ballpark.
Permalink Reply by Aaron Schwab on July 16, 2012 at 9:51am Do you have any contact for Hilcorp, or know if they are still leasing land in Mahoning County? We were on the list with Buckeye Mineral at the first of the year and was told CHP wasn't signing anyone in Austintown anymore, so we have been at a stand-still since there.
There are about 5-10 of us on the edge of Austintown who are looking to lease (probably 100 acres total).
Permalink Reply by Professor-JV on July 21, 2012 at 3:15pm I too live in Springfield Township ,I also leased to Hilcorp for 5,000 acre and 23% royalties. We did this Febuary this year. Springfield Bob I think you were at Poland High School the same day I was . I think I know who you are Springfield Bob. How is the Iron working biz ? Any way I also have a Tennesee pipeline in my 5 acres as well. There are lines for wet and dry that run through my property. I am anxiuos as hell to see what comes of all this.
Permalink Reply by Sally Smithe on July 23, 2012 at 9:01am Sorry, no number for Hilcorp, but check out this website: buckeyelandholdings.com This is not to be confused with Buckeye Minerals, which is a different company. Perhaps this company can help you out. Good luck.
Permalink Reply by Springfield Bob on August 9, 2012 at 7:05am Try 517-899-1764 for Linda Bartley (Hilcorp-Western Land Services). I understand they are still signing, however offers for small acreage is now 4K + 18%.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
