Nabors is a driller ... not sure who they are drilling for here in Ohio. Do you have a distance from 534? I will see what permits I can see out there on ODNR. That is not far from the Calla Road area which Chesapeake walked away from some time ago. CNX Consul Energy has a well on Western Reserve west of 62. I have seen Naborsone other time in Ohio but can not recall where.

There is a small rig on Bedell just north of Western Reserve-west side of the road.  It appears to be drilling but I didn't catch the name on the trucks.  Looks like a newer version of the rigs we had around here in the 1980's that were drilling shallow wells.  Saw a single frac water trailer on S side of Berlin Station west of 534 a week ago, some other equipment there but it's too far off the road for me to see what else was there.  I do remember seeing the name Nabors somewhere there.

OK do you know how to use ODNR well finder.  Up at the top you pick township search and type in Berlin then pick Mahoning County.  Zoom in on the area of Western Reserve and Bedell.  Choose the i for identifying features and click on the wells around that area and you can see what is going on.  If you click on well information you can see which are old and which are recent permits.  None of the activity up in that area and I just looked a short distance north of Western Reserve on both sides of Bedell is listed in the Utica/Marcellus Shale activty page.  There are no permits for Berlin Twp. that I saw.  But there is VERY,VERY interesting activity on the east side of Bedell.  Viking Resources has drilled 5 laterals in the Clinton Sandstone up there.  They have a permit for a location on the west side also.  And Enervest has some wells up there as well on the west side of road.  I think that the lateral drilling WILL be used in both the Clinton and the Rose Run eventually. It has already begun in several places.   We heard a speaker way back in 2009 or 2010 tell us that.  The trouble when drilling in sandstone is the oil and gas is trapped in the sandstone by a non permeable layer above in sort of a bubble like deposit that often is not that wide.  The driller pokes holes in the ground trying to find the correct spot and often comes up empty.  Sort of like trying to poke a straw into 1000 drink cups with out being able to see inside only to find a small drink in some, no drink at all in some, and a full cup in a few areas.  By drilling laterally drillers can poke a hole in the ground in one place and then push the straw sideways in hopes of puncturing the side of the "cups" to get to the drink.  They no longer have to poke a hole in every section of every town ship in every county and miss half of the drinks buy a few hundred feet.  You can look on well finder and see the Clinton wells poked in the ground all over most of eastern Ohio and Rose Run too.

Thanks for the info James.  Still don't see anything on east side of bedell.  Rig on west side north of western reserve is gone.  There is a lot of drive building going on west side of bedell north of leffingwell rd.  Several red frac trailers sitting at sight and two of the orange ones from south well were hauled up there as well.  I thought maybe they were reworking old clinton wells but it looks more involved than that.    Maybe we'll get lucky and someone who lives near there will let us know what's going on.

There is now a pump jack on a clinton well that wasn't there before.

There are two new pumpjacks on Bedell.  One just north of Western Reserve and one north of Leffingwell, both on west side of the road.
