Is Muskingum County in the "OIL" area on that new Ohio Utica Map?

It sure looks like its right in the heart of the oil!  I'm wondering if "OIL" will

become more attractive than the "Wet-Gas" areas?  The author of the map seems

more concerned with "Wet-Gas" than oil.  I thought everyone was chasing the Utica

for oil?  Does anyone know?

Bernie it seems as they want the wetgas. I believe they  believe the price upon the wet gas will not be swung as heavily as oil or gas but at oil at over $100/barrel rather surprises me they are not hitting hard on it unless they know full well its here but want the market share of the wetgas first. 

It would not surprise me to see the wetgas area to be extended even further to the west as originally it was pretty much projected to run fairly tight along the river and it keeps moving westwards.

Question is why are they after a 47% return when they could go for oil?

They are going for oil as well.  Ashland, Richland and Medina (though the latter is still a question mark) are areas that they're targeting for oil production.

So, they're still not sure about Medina, do you have any idea as to what their next plan of attack might be? Also, where abouts in Richland?

They took several assignments in Richland from older producers.  The lease position seemed scattered and it covered maybe six townships, some contiguous some not. I don't have my data in front of me so I can't give you specifics.

As for the Medina well (Richman Farms) I hear that they're not terribly excited but plan to frack it anyway.  But one or two data points aren't usually enough for a company of that size to make any real, solid evaluation.

Billy,

 Is there an Oil Pipeline in Licking / Muskingum that has unused capacity?

 I think there are 3 refineries in Ohio: Canton, Lima and Toledo.

 Can any of these refineries process that specific type of oil? 

 Will the oil easily flow out of the well in huge quantities like Nat Gas and NGL's does?

 

 Gotta' figure out where the oil is going before it comes out of the ground.

Yea. There is 2 Marathon Lines. One is going to Canton and the other is going to Lima in Licking. Most of the leasing is on or around the Marathon lines. Also, there has been a lot of clearing trees and widening of the right always. There has been about 100 pipeline rightswys filed in the recorders office. All the leases and pipeline right aways paint a pretty clear picture when they are put on a map. I'm not sure on the capacity. One is 8" and the other is 10".

Google "National Pipeline Mapping System". It's pretty cool. David R. Hill Inc. first lease in late 2010 was a 300+ acre farm on the Heath to Lima oil pipeline. The leases and pipeline right of ways chain together to connect the acreage with Knox Energy's leases and Columbia Natural Resources/Chesapeakes leases. Hill has 19500 acres leased in the past 18 months and Knox probably has more. Sensibaugh 1H is about a mile from the Columbia Gas Terminal in Homer. Gatherco recently got the right aways to connect to it from the pad. See lcounty.com recorders office.
