This is what is needed across this country and around the world to get the flow of natural gas moving and demand to begin.  Great job General Electric.  Who will be the first in the eastern US to invest and sell power back into the grid using Marcellus/Utica gas?  Landowner groups should pay attention... a great business, tax deductions and employment!

Thanks for posting this article Mr. Brutz

What is new about this turbine? I have been to gas tribune electric generating facilities all over the east coast even one in WVA. Some have been strictly turbine powered generators while some have used the exhaust to form steam in a multipul steam transmission system to the generator.
In Florida most units run off natural gas from the gulf until a hurricane shuts done the rigs. When that happens the turbines run on fuel oil. When ran on fuel oil to reduce pollution deionized water (highly puified water) is injected with the fuel to cut down on emissions. In some plants deionized water is used in the steam cycle of the generation process.
The plant in WA utilized methane gas from coal formations which was a pretty neat set up, it was a combined steam set up. Most impressive was a unit in NJ that had the same engine as the SR 71 used I was told by the operator. I took his word for it when I saw it. It was not the normal turbofan style but rather a fighter jet turbine design.
Did you know Chrysler in the late 50s put 50 or so gas turbine cars out into the American public for road testing! Yep and guess what those same gas turbine engines could be powered by liquefied natural gas! So long Saudi Arabia.
