Since they have tied up all the leases forever (i.e. put them in units for these inactive wells), I doubt that they will do much until gas prices pick up. There's no reason to hurry on their part. I wonder what kind of royalty checks people in the Butler unit are getting...

They DID finish the 3D survey in this area; they were here last week to fill in holes and gather up trash.

I know one person in the Butler Unit and when asked about that, the reply was, -------"Nice".

Which twp is the Butler unit in? I don't know what the DEP could say about this but with any declared unit they have paper work on file that can be obtained for the price of copying and postage. The papers I have seen from them are filled with interesting information.

Thank you Josie. I pay the most attention to Charleston Twp so it is interesting hear about other Twp's. I know of at least one pad/unit (in Charleston) that East did just one vertical on and declared the unit and walked away but now I believe Shell will finish it later this year, they have been on the site on and off the past 6 months. But who knows? It seems like they are very focused on the geology which can vary every half mile.

Hi Josie,

I have a ton of questions about "Inactive Status."  Do you know what it means and how did you verify the inactive status and the timing of Shell's filing?

We asked them after we heard a rumor. I have not verified with the state. Shell told us that they have no plans on the board to drill the horizontal wells at Kennedy.

Active/Inactive in DEP reports hasn't seemed to mean much in the past.  When a permit had expired and the well hadn't been SPUD, the facility was still listed as "Active".   I (still) wonder if by listing a well as inactive, SWEPI hopes to avoid paying the impact fee. 

I would believe SWEPI if they say there is no plan in the works to drill the Kennedy horizontals.  ERI leased a bunch of properties in mid-2008 that still haven't been "held".   I'd think that would take priority.

I am responding here at your specific request.  I'm sorry I have nothing to contribute.  I'm not familiar with the terminology "inactive status".  Pressed to guess, I would presume the wells have been shut in.  Certainly, that would not be a surprise given NG marketplace circumstances (prices) which existed this past spring.
