See in the Tribune that the township trustees in Brookfield gave Halcon the ok to run a pipeline thru their property. That sounds positive. This is part of the 14 mile long line from Vienna Twp. to Lordstown.

Not much on this end Robert.  A fellow did tell me that Bp probably won't drill anything west of Rt 11 this year.  I cannot verify this - just rumor.

It seems that all of our Trumbull neighbors are still hibernating from the rough winter.  The spring birds are chirping - bring on the peepers!

Yes, they must be.  Should not be long now till I head to the fields to begin tillage work to plant corn and soybeans.

Robert and MJ, you are right. I think we are all trying to straighten up from being hunkered down all winter. Pretty nasty one for those of us that had to spend some time outside. Oh well, it is Ohio after all. I think we are all in a state of wait. I did contact the Three Rivers Midstream rep, and his input was that they are waiting also to hear what BP has in mind for Trumbull, and as of yet, BP ain't talkin' (at least to us). He indicated that they would love a green light as installing pipelines and transportation of materials is how they make money. I think pipelines and wells sometimes fall into the chicken or egg category as in which comes first. Halcon, BP, and Chesapeake (HBP properties) seem to be our main players. Halcon has publicly temporarily backed off. Chesapeake (maybe it is a blessing here) seem to be very busy in the south stealing royalties from HBP landowners. From what I read they are very good at semilegal royalty theft. Hopefully they can be taught the error of their ways in the courts before they become more active here in Trumbull. It comes down to BP again. I hope their silence is broken soon. I'm just a working guy, and I would like to hear other input or info from knowledgeable people.

RUMOR- BP may be sticking around- BP,S DRILLING ACTIVITY IS ON HOLD WHILE IT WORKS OUT A DEAL WITH THE UNION ON BUILDING A PIPELINE FOR ITS WELLS IN NORTHEAST OHIO. It seamed that BP was leaving the utica and possibly buying an E/P company in the marcellus. STAY TUNED FOR MORE !!!

I think we need to stay abreast of any news or rumors that may be around. It has been too quiet. Not even getting offers to buy our minerals anymore. That surprises me as I thought that would continue. Do the mineral buyers know something that we don't or are they merely waiting to see what is going on as well. Please give me your thoughts. Maybe we should have listened to these buyers.

This is the latest that I have read. It is probably already been stated by others, but I think it kind of sums up where we are now. Most know who he is, but for those who don't, Wenger is one of the attorneys involved in the ALOV deal. In Trumbull County, 13 permits were issued in 2013, records show. The last one issued for that county was in November at Halcon’s Kibler well pad in Lordstown.

“Things are pretty slow at the moment,” Wenger observes.

In addition to Halcon’s future decisions, Wenger says he’s interested in the next move of BP America, which has some 80,000 acres under lease in Trumbull County.

BP spokesman Curtis Thomas reports his company has concluded its Utica appraisal program and is reviewing data from exploratory wells drilled in Trumbull County.

“We’re analyzing the results to see whether this play fits into our business portfolio,” Thomas said in an email. A decision on BP’s presence in the Utica should come before the end of the second quarter, he says, “hopefully sooner.”

BP’s direction is more likely to point the way forward in this section of the Utica in the near-term, Wenger observes.

“That would be more definitive on how things are perceived in the Utica,” he says.

Ahh Snort, you silver tongued devil. Good to have you back. You may be right, (you know - the old broken clock thing) but I prefer to hear it from proper channels. Good or bad news will come in time, and we will deal with it as we always have in our neck of the woods. We have many different personal and financial situations to address concerning the Utica. Most of us (Trumbull County landowners) that you are addressing appreciate straight talk from knowledgeable people - Marcus Grayson comes to mind. I don't really know who he is, but I tend to listen to what he has to say as he seems to be a learned person about oil and gas. You may also have some expertise, but there is a difference between clinically imparting knowledge that people might not want to hear, and enjoying the damage and confusion innuendo can cause. Obviously permits have not recently been pulled. Just as obviously, that says nothing about the future of drilling in our county. It just means not yet. The resource is there. We, of course, would like to see permits pulled. Sorry to correct you, but no new permits pulled to date is a fact, not an announcement. The announcement has not come yet from BP. It may be bad. It may be good. We will then apply that fact to our individual situations. By the way Snort, manners manifest themselves in many ways, and good manners are never really out of style.
