WILL YOU PROSPER FROM MARCELLUS SHALE?

Those with Foresight & Vision Can Profit as Pennsylvania Gets Serious About Its Energy Riches

With a rebounding economy pushing energy prices up, and with new technologies for advanced drilling and hydraulic fracturing creating more efficient techniques for extraction, there is renewed interest in the giant, 575-mile Marcellus Shale bed of natural gas that runs between New York State through Pennsylvania and West Virginia. One study estimates that there is 500 trillion cubic feet of recoverable natural gas in the field, more than the U.S. produces (about 30 trillion cubic feet) annually.

That's a lot of energy to be harnessed and a lot of economic activity to be generated - and with it, real opportunities for Western Pennsylvania entrepreneurs and investors to find success serving the energy industry and its myriad of spinoffs.

The questions we'd like to ask are simple: Who will prosper as Marcellus Shale extraction revs up - and how?

Will it be you?

Join us as we gather a group of experts from the natural gas exploration and production ("E&P"), government, universities and business to delve into the promises - and, yes, the obstacles -- now before regional entrepreneurs and investors as Pennsylvania gets serious about its energy riches.

Our moderators will be State Representative Brian Ellis, co-chairman of the Pennsylvania House Natural Gas Caucus and whose Butler County district includes portions of the Marcellus Shale field, and Katie Klaber, President, Marcellus Shale Coalition. Others also will help us understand the complexities of natural gas E&P and its impact on Pennsylvania. And as always with Enterprise Forum events, audience interaction will be encouraged - we want to hear from you.

Marcellus Shale is about more than natural gas. It's also about economic revitalization on a huge scale.

Come learn how to put it to work for you.

The Enterprise Forum event was informative, the panel was loaded with heavy hitters including Katie Klabor from the Marcellus Shale Coalition. It was informative for lay people and business people alike and they stayed true to their goal of making it about the business side of the Marcellus Shale Play.

These events serve as both networking events AND information gathering. For us, it was a blend of both.

As for the event in Houston, we will not be there as their is an event in Pittsburgh on June 2 that is sponsored by Congressman Tim Murphy at Southpoint that we committed to a month ago. If anyone goes please update us here!

Thanks

Here is another, but pricey meeting that looks very interesting from their lit and site.
Following is a letter from sponsor.

2010 Gas Shales Summit
Hydraulic Fracturing & the Environment
June 2-3, 2010 | Marriott Houston West Loop by the Galleria

Dear Colleague

Please join me at a summit meeting on the most important issue facing our industry.

Shale gas is the hottest play in the energy business and the key to greater use of natural gas and less dependence on foreign oil supplies. Yet just when technology has made unconventional gas commercially feasible, its continued development is being challenged. And in particular, the process of hydraulic fracturing (frac'ing or fracking).

It is time for industry leaders, environmental scientists, government regulators and policy makers to sit down for a summit meeting - two days of frank and detailed discussion of all the issues.

That's why I am teaming with Steve Dixon, executive vice president and COO of Chesapeake Energy Corporation to chair the 9th Annual Gas Shales Summit in Houston, June 2-3.

Steve and I will be joined by other industry thought leaders including executives from Apache, Devon Energy and Petrohawk, scientists from universities, research institutes and consulting firms, regulators from the Environmental Protection Agency and Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, and experts from the Environmental Defense Fund, USA Club of Rome and Citizens for Affordable Energy.

I hope you will join me in June for an exciting two days of discussion about the most important energy issue of our time.

Sincerely,
Peter M. Duncan
President and CEO, MicroSeismic, Inc.
