Just rec'd cert. mail that Swepi has applied for permits to drill deeper at the Renick site (off route 308). It appears they are becoming active again by proceeding with their permits for Utica and Marcellus. According to what I read on my copy of permit application, they are going to drill all the way to the Potsdam formation. The permits read that swepi will go to the Onondaga as the deepest for Marcellus at 5550 to 5565 feet and also past Utica to Potsdam at 12,757 feet. They list target formations as :     Rhinestreet, Middlesex, Burkett, Tully, Hamilton, Marcellus, Oriskany, Helderberg, Salina, Vernon, Lockport, Rochester, Clinton-Medina, Whirlpool, Queenston, Reedville, Utica, Trenton, Black River, Chazy, Glenwood, Beekmantown, Rose Run, Gatesburg, Conasauga and Potsdam. I have no idea what all these formations are, nor do I know if they put all these on their applications just to cover them all or if these are possible shale deposits in Butler county. Maybe you guys/girls with a better handle on all this can decipher this info  for the rest of us. In any event, I just wanted to share the info I had. Have a good day to all.

I've heard of drillers going after rhinestreet and burkett. Besides utica and marcellus. I think black river is really deep.
