JOBS, JOBS=MORE JOBS....THE BEGINING OF THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE "RUST BELT" INTO THE "WEALTH BELT"

This is a pic taken today of the NG processing plant being built next to the Bayer plant north of New Martinsville, WV.  Mid-stream pipelines are in place with more being plowed in.  Iron workers, pipe fitters and other construction trades are working.  Steel mills and fabricators throughout the region churn out the iron work,  pipe and tubing that arrives from all directions. The pipe yard is filled with miles of pipe waiting to be placed. Plastic manufacturers wait with anticipation for the the plants completion and its first gallons of raw materials so they can build new plants nearby.  Jobs spiderweb out in all directions at each of the NG processing plants that are being built in the region in addition to the drilling, transportation and support workers already in place.  Landlords are renting at double and triple monthly rates of a few years back.  Soon naysayers and the I don't want to workers will have to move on to less expensive areas to whine.

Good link and I don't think it's a 'may need' more likely a will need, at least for any part of ohio with the old clinton wells.  Most of those pipelines are too old and too small to handle the pressure or the flow.

Most of this work at New Martinsville is being done with out of state workers.

I have heard local pipe fitters are on there now.  Local including folks a few minutes away in Ohio.  The important thing is we have more jobs everyday and more coming.  I wish more local trades were included in the New Martinsville site from the begining.

There were a handful of fitters there but gone now they were doing the underground piping work, as soon as they did the hard part of the job and all of the layout and figuring they were let go so the out of state workers and Mexicans could finish the easy part of the underground piping. All you have to do is look at the liscense plates in the parking lot to see where most of the workers are from. Out of area workers don't boost our economy unless you own a motel or Restaurant that is locally owned.

Motels, restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, grocery stores, realestate agents, rental owners, doctors-one town in columbiana county is making money on speeding tickets from o&g workers who don't mind the speed limit.  Most out of state workers won't stay forever. the long haul will be local or newly transplanted locals.  As far as mexican workers-they're in every town in Oh in all kinds of jobs.  Unless things change in washington there's little we can do about it.

Yeah, like those out of area workers don't buy gasoline, get their oil changed, use laundromats or dry cleaners, they don't shop at hardware stores for replacement tools, buy clothes at stores, attend movies or other forms of entertainment, buy groceries.  Assuming they actually did none of the things other than eat at a restaurant or stay at a motel... you don't think maybe the restaurant owner employs an extra waitress, cook, busboy, cashier, dishwasher to  handle the extra work... perhaps your neighbors kids now have the opportunity for a summer job as a result.  Nah, there's no good to come out of having out of area workers....

Jim you thought of a lot more things than I did.  This is a long-haul deal for the tri-state area, out of staters will bring money in for services while locals get the training to take over the jobs.  Win Win either way.  I've noticed in the Yo area people saying the same thing Tim says.  I wonder if part of the problem is that the area has been down for so long people are afraid to be optimistic.  We have a couple of local politicians who are fighting against drilling.  I truly believe that they are afraid they will lose their jobs if this area becomes economically successful again.  Thanks for adding some of the things I forgot.
