Another "golden egg" laying goose is dead?

 As we have seen, the Marcellus shale drilling success has lead to an over-supply of natural gas and a depressed price.

 The driller's answer was - go to the wet gas Utica areas to capitalize on the higher value of natural gas liquids mainly ethane. Now this success has lead to an over-supply of ethane and the price of ethane is now less than the equivalent methane. The ethane cannot be left in the gas going into the pipeline because it contains more BTUs than methane (1070 vs approx 1025) and that would raise the value too close to the limit pipelines allow - 1100 BTU.

  The answer may be to shut-in some Utica wells and return to the dry gas areas, but wait there is an over-supply of gas. What's needed is more useage, but that is going to take time and even then there's such an over-supply that prices are not going to change much for a long time.

 The drillers are between a rock and a hard place.

You seem to like the limelight and have a cause that suits you, why do you do it if there's no income from it? Your not like the Sautners, who collected royalties from Cabot the whole time they we're sueing them also they collected royalties in Burlington , Bradford co. They didn't see fit to sue the Brad Co driller cause they didn't live there, then they turn tail and move to NY, where fracking won't happen. I drank the water at their neighbors house, right nextdoor, don't glow in the dark or have any side effects. So why? would you rather have a hundred windmills on the skyline in Susquehanna Co?

I'm doing it to save our environment and health in the county where I live and for my children and grandchildren and for the world, since this pollution from a number of sources is worldwide and I'm starting with gas pollution.  And this is the last writing I'm doing on this site, since it's attack Vera-time and we're not just sticking to information and science...remember there are scientists on both sides of the issue. Well... I don't think I would word it quite the same Fang, but I do agree with your statements.

Radioactivity is the thrust of the story, but unless this driver was drinking the water that wouldn't be a cause.

And you're correct, there is a lot of speculation - I'm not sure they're accepting flowback, but I don't know!

I can't stand pieces like this - there is plenty of room for concerns and debate, but yes this article is poorly done.  It does a disservice to the discussion.
