Is there any drilling by Shell in the Londonderry Township area in Guernsey, yet? If no one does how do I keep on track of this, so I know when they do start drilling? Thanks for any help.

ODNR web site has record of wells old and new.  Here is a link:

http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/website/geosurvey/oilgas/viewer.htm?Acti...

This shows where the drill sites are, you have to look around their site to find the permit section for up comming wells.  All the big companies subcontract to to other companies, finding out if it is Shell or not might be a challange. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much. I hope I can figure it out.

Norman,

As I mentioned before, Shell has no permits in Londonderry Township. I don't know of any way to know if they have started drilling or not, but they first need a permit before they can drill, and there are none as of today.. You can check to see when permits are issued to Shell from the link below.. I will lead you through the steps in case you are having trouble figuring it out. Its easy once you learn it.

http://oilandgas.ohiodnr.gov/mineral/OHRbdmsOnline/WebReportAccordi...

Click on the link above. On that screen, click on the + sign beside "Reports". In the drop down menu, click on "Completions". On that screen, in the line "Operator Name" in the middle of that line, click on the small blue box, then click on "Like". In that same line to the right of the little blue box, click and type in Swepi LP. That is the name Shell drills wells under.

In the line "County", click on the little blue box in the middle of that line, and click "Equal". In that same line, all the way to the right, click on the little blue box and scroll down to "Guernsey" and click it.

In the line "Township", click on the little blue box in the middle of that line, and click "Equal". In that same line, all the way to the right, click the little blue box and scroll down to "Londonderry" and click it.

Then click "Report" near the top left of the screen. The report doesn't show anything because Shell/Swepi has no permits for Londonderry.

From there, to see what a Shell/Swepi LP permit looks like for another township, click on search in the top left of the screen, it takes you back to the previous screen. Change the township to Monroe, and click "Report". Thats the permit for Monroe Twp.

I hope this has been helpful, if not keep posting the question once a month and I will check it for you.

Oliver,

Thanks for the info. You've been a big help. I did follow your instructions but the permit for Monroe Twp. wouldn't come up so I could see what a permit looks like.

I will check in time to time to see if there is any new permits for Londonderry Twp.

Couple more questions, if you don't mind;

1- Would Shell sell it's lease to another Oil Co.? And would I be contacted about the sell?

2- Does Shell contact a person when they do drill or will I have to keep an eye on things?

We live out of state now and I just wanted to know what's going on.  Also, I took your advise and Fang F Fang sent me the attorneys number and I have a call into him now about adding my wife's name to the lease.

Thanks again,

Norm

Shell could sell your lease to another operator, weather or not you would be notified depends on if that is stated in your lease. Sometimes the lease specifies you must be notified, sometimes its not mentioned and in that case they wouldn't have to. It is called a notice of assignment.

Question # 2 I'm not sure about. I'm in PA, and if your property is within 3,000 feet of the well, you are notified for water well testing I believe. You could ask Fang both of these questions, he is much more knowledgeable on these issues than I. I'm sure he would be happy to help.

I sent you a friend request, if you agree to it I will send you a copy of the permit in Monroe so you can see what they look like.

I have noticed on the ODNR site, if you take too long making your selections it doesn't work right. What was the name of the road your property is on? I can check to see if any operator has a permit for that area.

I just realized the first place the permits show up is in the Engineer's Report, not Completions. But the procedure is the same.

I think Completions is permits issued, and County Engineer's is permits applied for. So you would want to know when a permit is first applied for.

Norman,

There are only 2 recent permits for Londonderry Twp., both issued to Gulfport. Those 2 wells are about 2.5 miles west of Skull Fork Rd. as the crow flies. Here is the SWEPI LP permit for Monroe Twp. Click on the permit below to enlarge.

Oliver,

Thanks again. I'll try to keep an eye on things and in touch with you. You have been alot of help and you seem to know what's going on and on top of everything.

Thanks, Norm

A friend of mine that is in oil business pays for rig data service. This shows the locations of every rig in the USA by county/state. You can also search by operator. According to the latest report shell/swepi does not have a rig running in Ohio right now, so they're not drilling anywhere in utica at this time.

Thanks Jonathan. Everyone has been so helpful. I appreciate all your interest and help. I will just take a deep breath and wait. I will keep in touch,. You, too.

Norm
