Does anyone know where to get data on current market prices paid for Utica leases by county in PA?   I am particularly interested in Utica rights in Forest, Elk, Clarion, McKean, and Potter counties.  Thank you.

We have 155 acres in Elk County...please e-mail me at danielrupert@rocketmail.com

We would be interested in leasing one, two , or three strata's...as we are in the triple play fairway of the Upper-Devonian , Marcellus and Utica shale plays. There have been deep wells drilled and then shut-in by EQT and a few others. They have prudently kept their results a secret...and besides with gas bottoming out @ 1.91 last spring, a glut in natural gas supplies, and no infrastructure currently in place to get the gas to market, there was and is no hurry to develop this area. But, at some point and time, this WILL change. The same ,"perfect storm", that occurred in 2011-2012 that sent drillers fleeing from Pa., may occur again but this time they may be fleeing back to Pa. Everybody seems to have an opinion as to when...I believe it will happen in the next 3-5 years and I feel you and your companies timing may be perfect.

We have land in elk county, fox Twp. Approximately 67 acres, if you would be interested please contact us for further information. Thank you, Scott

I am in Clarion County with over a hundred acres.  I am unleased and would like to hear what you have to say.  Please send a message... you may have to friend me first.

I hope one of you comes through with some information for the rest of us.

mengliu lu,

I would like to know if your company would be interested in buying O & G rights as well as I stated before I know of a gentlemen that owns over 1225 net acres of rights that is wanting to sell, they are mostly located in wetmoe township in McKean county. I also know of others that may be willing to lease.  if interested let me know.

To answer your original question, there's no significant leasing being done in McKean or Potter County right now that's focused on the Utica, and so there's no market price to report. Many landowners remember the prices paid during the Marcellus boom, but those aren't necessarily relevant to any current interest in the Utica. Both counties have plenty of open acreage right now, as leases that were signed in 2008 and earlier have already started to expire and typically aren't being renewed. And some later leases have been released early. Where the market price for Utica leases wouild settle out if you started leasing widely is hard to predict, but I suspect it would be somewhat lower than the prices paid for Marcellus leases a few years ago. The Utica is deep, dry and technically complex, and I'd want to start with a small test area if I was in your shoes.

The recent article in geology.com "Utica Shale - The Natural Gas Giant Below the Marcellus"

is very detailed about the potential of the Utica in NW Pa.  Adameck#1 located in Greenfield Township, Erie County is already drilling a 7200' test well-April 23,2013 they were are 4,200'

and should have hit the Utica yesterday.  The article shares the different depths of the Utica

is different area and is good reading.  The proof will be in the coming results of this test well

but the 270 acres that I am part owner was included in a package lease purchase over over

20 existing Medina shallow wells and many of the surrounding properties have recently been acquired.  Large oil companies are siesmic testing but there seems to be an opportunity to deal with acquirers of existing leases if you are ready to commit to drilling.  If things prove to be

productive in the next few weeks the game will change quickly.

Jack,  I do not agree w/your assumption that prices will be lower than they were for the Marcellus a few years ago. Remember they began @$3 AC and soared to $500 AC. 4-County has established the opening bid in the thousands for Marcellus/Utica, and since the NAPE's (Houston and Pittsburgh) we now have 12 companies focused on us (increased 2 more to 14 since last week,)  shape files requested by 7 companies ... additionally 6 immediately went into the CX-Energy office for face-to-face meetings  Of course due to the NY situation, the companies are focusing  on McKean and Potter so I don't agree with your version of what's going on in this region. I know you have accumulated considerable acreage in these 2 counties so I hope you find this as good news.

We also have OGMs- 240 acres in Mckean and 360 in Potter county. If you'd like send a pm and we'll forward deeds, etc.

I also have over 100 in Clarion and would like to hear what you have to say

We are nw Potter county. We have about 250 acres of mineral rights and are interested in leasing. Would like to know more about your company.
