I am a landowner in Guernsey County with a 4 1/2 year old Oxford lease that is set to expire in about 6 months.  I, and apparently many others, have just received an offer from Eclipse to extend the lease for 3 years for a generous one time payment of $100.00 and the same 12 1/2%  royalty (but no line charges).  The extension provides for the grouping of 640 acres instead of the 160 acres in the old leases.  I had hoped that Eclipse would treat the landowners fairly, in contrast to the Oxford way, but apparently not.  The landman, who called me, reminded (threatened?) me that Oxford (now Eclipse) is still drilling its shallow wells to hold them by production.  According to the DNR records almost all of these shallow wells have only the tiniest of production of oil or gas or sometimes only salt water or nothing.  My neighbors tell me that Oxford comes in, sets up a small rig and drills for a few days and leaves.

One leverage the landowners have by not signing the extension is to deny Eclipse the right to put together the necessary 640 acres to drill a deep well.  If enough people do not sign the extension maybe we could get a realistic offer.

Has anyone on here received a similar extension "offer"?  Is anyone actually signing these things?  Does anyone know of any law suits or other methods to stop this bad faith drilling of the shallow wells?

do you want a copy of the info?... as a matter of fact.. no thanks

yeah.. ok

I live on Barker my land  butts up against  David Cains, Eclipse stopped at my house for water well sampling. It appears they already have their 640 acres as my wife was allowed to picture his map but he would not let us have a copy. The well will be drilled On the Pletcher acreage.I hope it's not a shallow well as described, was finally glad to be in a drilling unit.

Richard,

Sorry we haven't had an opportunity to meet yet.  Do you live in the White house just to the west of my entrance lane?   Are you leased by Eclipse?  Is the well starting at the Pletcher parcel and heading NW?  Do you know if any of my acreage was included in the unit?  Sorry for asking so many questions, but this is getting close.

Thanks,

Dave

David yes am in the white house same side as your property used to be Robert Kuhnes place.I was in the KWGD group and leased to Gulfport. Not sure how Eclipse ended up on my property testing my well when im leased to gulfport? Well is to be on Pletcher property just behind axles place. On the map you are listed as parcel 14 and 15 and are on the drilling unit. Sure seems to me that the location they show for the well would not have enough property for horizontals. I have a pic of there layout. I had the bus stop built at the edge of your lane back when Noah owned it so my kids could catch the bus up there.I still try to keep it bush hogged off. Not sure of legalities of posting their pic kinda new at this.LOL

Scott,

Yes my lease is still with Eclipse.  I do not see any transfers recorded.

As far as I can tell from the map the following are within the 640 acre unit or partially;Richard Moore x2, David Moore my son, David Cain x2, Levi Weaver, Jeff Sciulli x2, Julia Rodriguez, Trevor Cost, Paul Miller, Robert Rotz, Brian Pletcher, Michelle Smith, David Elerick, Norman Douglass. Dont hold me to it just comparing eclipses map to odnr properties map. Hope this helps. I am hoping they use Barker as an access road as it is in dyer need of repair but most likely they will come up through Nevada. Knowing our luck!

Does any one have a map or more info on the Pletcher well that they care to share. It would be greatly appreciated.

Off of Barker one road past Shannon run headed toward Barnesville about a mile up on Right
