Rich and Brad posted in the comments section regarding Range's leasing interest in Independence and Hopewell TWP's and I have heard of Range's interest in land in western Hanover TWP which is currently under a Chesapeake lease.

Any other news regarding Range's leasing activity and areas of interest?

Thanks,

Todd

224 leasing documents recorded so far this year for Range in Hanover TWP.

Development is coming from south to north as we have known for some time now.

Here's an interesting map of the Marcellus showing the south to north development:

Hence, Energy Wise has just joined our forum - Welcome to Beaver County, Pennsylvania - "You have a friend in the keystone state".

Great Map Todd !    Thank you.

You're welcome Nancy -- I just got lucky last night during a Google search!

Thanks for posting that map Todd. Are the yellow well logs of wells already drilled?
Brad,

You're welcome. I figured if they were hanging the map
up in Austin, TX, then we should have access to it as well.

I believe those yellow dots represent old well logs that were drilled many years ago - I have access to the old logs from the 1930's and '40's for Hancock County. Those logs consist of geologist notes of the description of shale encountered at each depth, along with whether there is a show of oil or gas - and, yes, there is oil. The geologist's office was on Grant Street in downtown Pgh. There were vertical wells drilled all the way down to the Beekmantown Group about 50 years ago as well - that's about 11,000' TVD (total vertical depth). Coincidentally, that particular well was drilled on Gas Valley Rd.
Here's the definition of well logging:

Todd, Ever since I bought my property about 15 years ago I always thought that either my property or adjacent property was drilled for oil.The reason I believe this is because their is 3or4 inch pipe running through my property .Do you know how I might be able to find out if drilling was done anywhere around me and if so could that be a good thing or possible bad .
Brad,
There's a lot of old oil wells and gas wells all around the area - that's why they say the best place to find oil and gas is where you have already found it! Lol
I would contact the PA DEP and give them your parcel number. Or, if you know the names of past owners of your mineral rights, you should be able to search the DEP website.
Sounds good to me. As long as you own your oil and gas rights, you're good to go.
Maybe someone else might know another recommendation. I'm from PA but my property is in WV.

If the pipe is for commercial use you would think that they would have needed a ROW on your property. I suppose you have traced your land as far back as you can on the county website and found nothing like that ?

Is there a stream nearby? If so, on our farm I was metal detecting and found a pipe running to the creek from an old stationary steam engine. Maybe it is something like that?

If you know a good dowser they could follow the pipe and show you where it goes. If you don't know one, you do now ; )

Thanks Todd I do own all the mineral rights except coal.I'll
Woops!! Hit reply before I was finished I'll follow up on your suggestions thanks again .
