Get Ready

I have a strong feeling that drilling is really going to open up, especially in Lawrence and Mercer Counties. Every test well has at worst, provided a large volume of dry gas, and in some liquids. (So we hear) A little birdie told me Shell meets at the end of this year to decide whether or not to transition from exploration to production. I have a feeling the recent surge in NG prices will influence this, along with how early winter temps progress. If it gets cold quick, I'd be ready for drillagedon in the srpring. Just my thoughts...

shell three       -  delawere,lake,mill creek

carrizo three    -  all in  west salem, small part of pymatuning

hilcorp four     -delawere,pymatuning,lackawannock,wolf creek

chevron one    - east lackawannock  permit number 085-24638  authorization no. 939089

So the Kern well in Slippery Rock Twp. has been applied for? 

The one site I was looking at it was only a permit for watershed, or something like that.

While there is some value to that site, I'm not sure how current the information is.  In Venango County for example, the site shows only 1 well in the entire county.  Several wells have been permitted and more are pending by multiple operators.

I like Pa Dept. of Environmental Resources site. Can take a particular county, and then can see all permits issued going back to around 1980. The lists for each township show the O&G companies in alphabetical order. the date of permit, the name of the landowner. Can also ask just for unconventional wells. For example Venango County shows 2 permits French Creek Twp for Allam property and two for Rainbow property, in each case one conventional, and one unconventional, (horizontal). There is a lot of other info on this site, including info about violations. I think the most valuable info, is being able to see who are and who have been, and who are currently, the predominant drillers in a particular twp. I note that Venango County supposedly has over 10,000 total oil wells, and Mercer County about 3500. Non-conventional wells are in the low double digits for Mercer County and low single digits for Venango. Perhaps, I should have started this as a new thread. I hope this information is helpful to many who follow this site. Everybody have a nice day.

Sam, part of your statement is true, but look again.  While Allam 1H1 and Rainbow 1H each have 1 horizontal and one not.  Both of the Allam permits are classified as Unconventional, and both of the Rainbow permits are Conventional.  I'm not sure I understand what this means, or maybe it's just a mistake?  I didn't think there was such a thing as a Conventional Horizontal well.  Can anyone shed some light on this?
