I don't think there is a Marcellus well in existence that produces 50 mcf/day.

That's both wells Together per day the freeland 1 h and 2h

Those would be huge Marcellus wells, but it could be possible. 15-20 mcf/d/well would be more likely.

Robert I spoke with that same person back in Oct or Nov and THOUGHT that he said that they had not drilled the Freeland 2, but thinking back, he could have been referring to the other proposed Units. However, I spoke with Antero a little over a month ago and THOUGHT that they specifically told me that they had not drilled that second Freeland well, but again, I am not entirely sure. They could have also been telling me based on old info. If you do talk with them, please share what you find out. Thanks.

Robert. Just so you know. I just located four wells (laterals) that Antero has drilled across our land which have been producing since Sept of 2013 and we have not hear a peep from them. I suspect several others.

That's very interesting Jim ,I only thought there were two do you have the name of the wells that your taking about

Robert...confusion

First, I was saying that I thought the pad owner said and Antero said that there was only one well drilled in the Freeland Unit, not two. Could be wrong.

Secondly, my point about the four wells (which were in other units in Doddridge) was that they have been producing for 17 months and we have heard nothing from Antero. Doesn't relate to the Freeland Unit. I just wanted to let you know it can be a LONG time.....too long.

Thank you Jim I will let you know if I hear anything on the freeland
The wv dep maps are now showing 8 laterals coming from the Hartley east well pad

Waiting nervously on the well plat information. If they drill West then southeast off the pad for the Plum Unit, they take the remainder of our acreage and essentially form one long "Freeland" unit. If they drill East then south off the pad, there goes 75 acres unfortunately.

Bad news all around. I got the plats from the DEP and they are drilling to the other side of our property, so we're out of the Plum Unit. Also, the DEP productions records are out and the Freeland Unit shows no production in 2014, so I am wondering about what you were told Robert.

Jim,

I don't know the particulars of your drilling unit, but your story does bring up the frustration I have as mineral owner in WV-- there is no corporation commission the regulates the drilling units, the funny business with deductions, and force pooling.  There seems to be donut holes in the units, as if they are gerrymandered by the operator, with changing royalty interests.

I have spent much of my career in Oklahoma in the mineral business and I find it works quite well-- they have a corporation commission, to which an operator must first establish a drilling unit with intended  formations.  Later there is a pooling order proposed, in which the terms are given as the highest bonus and royalty in the general area.  The mineral owner may then choose to join in the well as working interest member (which I have done on a number of occasions), or except a force pooling lease that has been generally fair.  In  addition a single mineral owner can not be a holdout and block the drilling of the well,to the detriment of the other mineral owners.  The process in Oklahoma is out in the public, with your right to attend the hearing and object as a mineral owner.  There does not seem to be any donut holes or gerrymanding as per discretion of operators in WV when the units are formed.  In Oklahoma, a  proposed well is advertised, and permission to unitize and drill goes before the corporation Commission. The size of the unit, its boundaries are determined by the commission, a state government body.

I was somewhat amazed by the strong reaction against the WV pooling law proposal earlier this year, without knowing the specific details.  I think a mineral owner is better served if he is dealing with a public process and the state as the intermediary; as it is now, we are trying to deal with operators who know they are in control of the units, deductions and timing of payments.  I think WV should have emulated Oklahoma's Force Pooling laws with a corporation commission determining drilling units.
