Zombie Oil & Gas Companies--getting short! The reckoning is imminent.

In my opinion, this couldn't be happening to a nicer bunch of phonies. Indeed:

It would have been better to get short four months ago.  The bloodbath happened already.  Now it's just a matter of who gets absorbed.

No, real bloodbath is coming. Get a rise in interest rates; say the ten year Treasury at 3-3 1/2 % (still below historical standards: inflation + 2%) with Oil still around $45 and Nat. Gas @ $3 and the Fat Lady will be screaming like hogs at castration.

Than again it wont be the only place the "correction" will be running rampant.

Sooner or later the Piper will be paid. It's not going to be pretty or for that matter "fair".

Best 2 investments might just be "Guns and Butter".

The worst of the worst are already getting killed.  The companies that cannot meet their heavy debt service obligations will eventually go under, but it may very well take another three or four quarters for that to start happening.

Tim  wti $70.00 by November  remain calm and buy evep.

james d lamm, already own evep but would like your thoughts on why this will head north (price )---agree wti will be @ least $70.00 by Nov--storage build-up is &was a farce, --price pressure, to allow blending $105 hedged oil with open mkt imported $55 oil--gasoline use is way up (world- wide )---

Good article, Thanks.  It is amazing how money is still be pumped into the game.  I think O & G prices will be low for at least two years.  Too many companies have to keep drilling and they all keep getting more and more production from each new well each quarter. About the only thing that will have a major impact would be major ME war. And I would rather suffer low prices for landowners than see a war that does not have a positive predictable outcome.
