I have heard talk of a new gas well being drilled in Westfield TWP. Anyone have any information on it?

Hi Dave  Brace hollow is almost directly north from where the well that I am speaking of. Westfield township extends part way up Brace hollow. Are you still in Westfield township?  Brace hollow used to be a great place for my family to go to pick huckleberries, especially up at the very top on the old Clark property.

Thanks for your Reply

Brookefield township

As of today, no drilling permits have been issued for Brookefield Township, Tioga County.  Interested parties should check out the PA DEP eNOTICE site described in my email further down the page.  Activity will appear there first.

The earliest possible notice of Gas and Oil activity from the PA DEP (that I know of) can be had via subscription to DEP eNOTICE.

Start here:

Follow the instructions to create County-Specific Oil and Gas subscription for Tioga County.

This subscription will email you all Gas and Oil permit activity in Tioga County including the actual drilling permit plus site and pipeline work.  In an active drilling area (like Butler County where I am) it will update almost daily including weekends.

Travis Peak is an EnCap company/construct: http://www.encapinvestments.com/upstream/current

EnCap companies/management teams are an illusion.  EnCap calls the shots.

EnCap's shtick is: cobble together industry ne'er do wells/hacks, acquire oil and gas leases, acquire a few of the trappings of an actual operator---dump the company per IPO or sale and then collect a huge amount of money for doing very little and adding zero value.

The downturn has dropped a huge wrench in EnCap's plans.  Nobody is getting pounded harder than EnCap and their lackeys/stooges.

Dems da breaks!

if they add no value, why are they getting pounded?  implies they certainly have risk.  and if they are taking risk, are they not entitled to make a profit when it works?

bit of combo franchise model with proven vets & financing arm.  are you saying, leasing, title, exploratory drilling has no value?  it certainly has costs and risks.

I think that Paul Butler's point is that some operators make money from selling oil and gas, and others make their money selling the dream to investors/buyers. Those guys tend not to get the best results or treat their royalty holders well. There's money to be made or lost either way, but thy typical landowner would prefer to be associated with a real experienced operator with a solid track record. And there are clearly some doubts whether that's what Travis peak aspires to be floating around. No need to debate it - time will tell.

Welcome to the Big League. Competition is a good thing for this area. Does anyone know anything about pipeline for them or are they drilling to put a # for proven reserves on the books and have no intention of really being a operator. Big Q do they have pipeline ROW's and Tap or a agreement with Swepi or none of above?

So I guess we can assume the Travis Peake outfit is only looking for sites that show better possibilities for gas and oil.  With one of Peak's drill sites up Brace hollow and another site just west of Kolesar's  garage up  Aplanalp road and now another site up Broughton Hollow road,  well that puts me pretty much in the center of  their three sites.

Now I wonder if that is good or bad for me?  Time will tell I guess. We keep getting letters from outfits that want to buy our mineral rights.  Bill Ladd
