"Concerned about the potential health effects from compressor stations and other infrastructure connected to the shale gas industry, some local officials have joined a prominent physicians' group in urging [New York] state leaders to conduct [a study]. ...

The Medical Society of the State of New York, a physicians' association, noted compressor stations routinely vent methane gas, and noted chemical and radioactive emissions not only occur near well pads but also along pipelines.

The organization went on to state that the emissions include "dangerous mixtures" of carcinogens, mutagens, endocrine disruptors, neurotoxins, respiratory irritants and hematological and cardiovascular toxins."

NY happens to be one of the top 5 states in the United States that imports natural gas. As such instead of Kasich trying for a severance tax on Ohioans and the O&G industry perhaps that severance tax ought to be a resource removal from Ohio, That tax should be passed onto NY and thus no State income tax for Ohio. DUH

Just thinking on that line. Many states are trying to enforce sales tax on out of state purchases such as individuals do on Amazon or Ebay. How much sales tax could Ohio draw in if a sales tax was applied to the purchase of Natural Gas from Ohio?

Great link, Barry!  Entertaining and frustrating @ the same time.  I'm from a region that profited greatly from the early days of O&G development ... from the Titusville discovery right up to the mid 1950's.  This was a top drilling area w/good money pouring into the local economies and beyond.  PA's "sweet crude" didn't stop @ the NY border.  NY's Southern Tier was productive as well ... but no wells now, @ least not unconventional ones that would have easiest access to the deeper depths.  Take a ride around the resource-blessed counties along the PA/NY border.  The once thriving communities look more like something from the "Ma & Pa Kettle movies".  Readers have to be of an age to understand what I'm referring to.  The state of NY can no longer refer to itself as the EMPIRE  State.  The empire has crumbled.  Those that beg to differ haven't done their homework.  Thank goodness PA and other Marcellus/Utica states are keen on developing their energy sources.

It makes one wonder how much those in NYC, Albany, and beyond want to pay for their electricity and heat in the coming years.

If this seems like a rant,  it is!  The immediate "hurt" rests on the residents of NY's Southern Tier, and those who live elsewhere in the state just don't see it spreading to them too.

I was recently reading an article about the new attack strategy of the anti American., anti fossil fuel leftist fractivist.

They have tacitly raised the white flag in their war on hydraulic fracturing. But this was just a lost battle; not the end of the war.

For them the war against fossil fuel continues on a new front. If they can't stop the drilling, then they intend to prevent the O&G companies from getting their product to market. The new front of the American hating leftists is an all out war on pipelines and associated structures.

I had wondered how long it would be before our resident leftist fractivist, a.k.a. Paul, posted some of the newest drivel put out by the anti-fossil fuel left.

Right on cue he posts this nonsense.

The problem for we sane people is that we do not think like theses folks. They never stop, never admit defeat; they go on and on and on. They continue to create these false narratives in their never ending fear mongering campaign.

We can never rest. We must always be vigilant and rebuke these false narratives.
