Does anyone know what the ramifications are for not renewing our lease with CHK? We own 65 acres in Bradford County and the gas (and royalities have been shut off.

If you were receiving royalties than there is a well(s). So you would be HBP. So the terms in the lease will cover how long they can shut-in the well and hold the lease. Without an addendum about shut-in limits or something similar the lease will continue to hold the rights. A "delay rental" or "shut-in" payment is probably required. $/year/acre is pretty common.
Thanks for the reply, but I don't understand it. What I meant was what happens if we don't renew our lease with CHK? The royalities are all but nonexistent now anyway, but will any other company want to lease the ground? Sorry for the confusion.
If you're getting any payments, that holds the lease. They don't need to renew, your same lease stays in effect.

With a lease renewal after 5 years is there a new payment for the lease?

If you're part of a production unit and are/were receiving royalties, the extension part of your lease does not pertain to you anymore because you're receiving royalties.

If you have not been drilled, then CHK still has the opportunity to renew your lease at their option.  If they chose to renew you, you will receive a second signing bonus check; if they choose not to renew, you should receive a release of lease.
