I have a strong feeling that drilling is really going to open up, especially in Lawrence and Mercer Counties. Every test well has at worst, provided a large volume of dry gas, and in some liquids. (So we hear) A little birdie told me Shell meets at the end of this year to decide whether or not to transition from exploration to production. I have a feeling the recent surge in NG prices will influence this, along with how early winter temps progress. If it gets cold quick, I'd be ready for drillagedon in the srpring. Just my thoughts...

not to rain on anyone's parade....but forcast is for warm winter through Dec.

The current political weather looks chilly for investors but hot for increased taxation!

LOL When you find a weatherman that knows hhis azz from a hole in the ground, send him my way!

I agree....predicting weather is a guessing game.

Demand > Supply,  is the only sure fire way to get an increase in price.

Producers don't decide to drill based on whether "it gets cold quick" nor on a forecast for "a warm winter through Dec."

Oil and gas producers may have 5 rigs in an area that can drill and complete one well per month, after which the well would need to be shut in for another 2 months before it would be ready for production.  And there's got to be midstream infrastructure in place in order to sell the hydrocarbons produced.

Short term weather in 2012-2013 has zero impact on drilling decisions in Lawrence and Mercer, except to the extent that severe weather causes logistical headaches and delays production.

"Throughout most of the U.S., the temperature of the ground below the frost line (about 3 to 5 feet below the surface) remains at a nearly constant temperature, generally in the 45 ° -50 ° F range in northern latitudes, and in the 50 ° -70 ° F range in the south." -geoexchange.com

Drill rain or shine brothers...

Not sure who you're referring to, but it's not the temps the oil companies care about, but the gas prices they bring. $4.00 NG will bring a lot of action.

Lance, Dont know about Mercer and Lawrence counties but BP plans on drilling between twelve and fifteen wells next year in Trumbull county.

Consol Energy seems to have less enthusiasm.

As far as the weather; It's going to be cold. The Caterpillars told me. :))

As to the price of Nat. Gas the economy has the most to do with the price. But the boom cycle of Marcellus will keep it down. Oil & Gas Co's need to HBP their best leases and try to lock others out.

Get oil at +$100 ($5.00 diesel) and the buildout of Nat. Gas transportation fuel will speed up. That could be the big price mover for Nat. Gas.

Does anyone out there have any REAL INFORMATION on what 2013 will bring to Lawrence County , PA ?

Is Shell ever going to tie the Patterson wells (there are 4 now) into the adjacent pipeline? Anyone know their status , as to wet gas , dry gas , or oil?

How is Hilcorp faring in it's endeavors?

Has anyone been approached lately to lease , or is there a County wide moratorium on acquiring more land ?

I thought midstream infrastructure was coming to my area here in New Beaver Boro. I signed With Markwest several weeks ago but have yet to get a copy of my agreement. Did they give up on that I wonder? I was told it was associated with Shell's plans to build that Cracker Plant in VanPort. Hope that isn't fizzling out.

DAS is busy around here preparing for seismic testing , though. That should be a good sign.

Chesapeke is currently drilling a well just across the County line from me in Big Beaver Borough on the Wall Farm. It sits high on a hill and is a spectacular sight all lit up at night. It is only a mile South of me. Hopefully they will report their findings when this gets tested.

We are all ears , so if you know anything , please chime in!
