Bob,

Sorry to see a worker was killed. There is nothing that can be said to compensate for a fatality.

This sentence appears twice in the article. "Condensate is a toxic substance produced during natural-gas and oil processing".

It's a good thing those nice producers are taking all of that condensate, a "toxic substance" and shipping it off for us for little to no charge.

Hey, what are they doing with the condensate "a toxic substance" in Natrium WV?

Maybe making that "toxic substance" into royalty free gold?

You know they are!

Very sorry to hear that a worker was killed.  Dangerous work they do.

But what a terribly written article;   First two words "Fracking sites"  The Ohio incident was a pipeline accident. not a fracking site.

'Well pad on fire'  well pads are five acres or more.  Its not the pad on fire but a piece of equipment on the pad.

'Toxic chemicals'  Every single house hold has a plethora of toxic chemical in it.

'blasting a mixture'  Nope, not blasted.  It is pumped into the well until the pressure gets high enough to shatter the rock.

The embedded bias in news articles drives me nuts!

Here is recent article on the explosion and fire with a much better definition of what condensate is.

The only problem with the link is that you are not permitted to read the article unless you sign up and pay for a subscription to the Intelligencer. The same is true for the 2 local newspapers available in Noble County. The Marietta Times and the Daily Jeffersonian can be read only if you pay their subscription fee or if the article is submitted by UPI or AP. This makes it very tough on retirees.

Linda,

Try this and I think you will read it:

1.  go to Google.

2.  put in the search terms:  Intelligencer    Caldwell   well  fire

Let me know if it works.

Searcherone,

Thank you so much. I was able to open the article with your instructions. It is truly sad that we have to go through all of these hoops sometimes just to get the news. Thank you again!

It is a horrible thing that anyone would lose their life at a job site, God rest this mans sole and bless his family that they can get through this terrible event.

When reading the two links listed above, it is hard to believe they are even about the same event. The dispatch writer is so far out in left field, she should be investigated for inciting civil unrest.

A story that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Frack, Fracked, or Fracking makes reference to it 10 times. The words Blast or Explosion are used 9 times, and death or killed 7 times.

Throw is statements like her, controversial method, toxic liquid, one man was hit with a stream of water or fracking fluid, (which is it), no fracking chemicals got into waterways, death and destruction - she said.

What a bunch of left wing crap to put in the Columbus Dispatch when a human life is lost.

No wonder our great county is in such a mess.

Some clarification as to what the liquids are, what the Natrium WV plant does and for whom, from an article I found:

Natrium WV Processing Plant

A natural gas processing facility removes all of the various hydrocarbons and fluids from “raw” natural gas (as it comes from the well bore) to produce what is known as ‘pipeline quality’ dry natural gas. Natural gas liquids (NGLs) are valuable by-products of natural gas processing and can include ethane, propane, butane, iso-butane, and gasoline. Dominion will sell natural gas and gas liquids from the facility via truck, railroad, pipeline and barge.

Dominion’s largest customer for the first phase is Chesapeake Energy, reserving 100 Mmcf of processing capacity.

Where's the warning that the liquids are toxic?

The article said Valuable not Toxic. Maybe those nice producers aren't really being nice to us landowners after all by taking our NGLs.

I suspected the above would be true, and who the big player would be.
