Interesting article on alternative fracturing. GasFrac is not as novel as I once thought, energized fracing appears to go back to the 1970's. Who knew??

There 's a lot to chew on in that piece.

What is the specific ban clause in NY state?

I am not sure that E & P companies are willing to take on the political risk at this stage, just too much leased acreage that still needs to be hbp'ed.

Commissioner Martens hasn't released the regs yet, it will be interesting to see what wording they choose. If I was in charge, there is no way  I would attempt NY, but there may be some bold companies willing to venture into NY.

The Utica Shale has higher clay content than the Point Pleasant, so this technology may be an answer to the Northern Utica where the Point Pleasant is thinner. It may also optimize the shallower areas with oil, time will tell.
