SUMMARY:Wetland Delineation Training
DESCRIPTION:The training includes a 4 day field and classroom workshop
 . In the classroom we will present the specific refinements to the 198
 7 Wetlands Delineation Manual. Both manuals present changes to the ana
 lysis of soils, vegetation and hydrology. The focus of the discussion 
 will be to highlight the changes as well as discuss potential ramifica
 tions of adding new wetland indicators. Many of the public comments fo
 cus on the implication that sites might be called wetlands under the n
 ew Manuals that may not have been identified using just the 1987 Manua
 l.   During the field portion of the class we will complete several da
 ta points using the new Regional Supplement data forms. Sites have bee
 n selected to focus on the appropriate Regional Supplements and the lo
 cal environmental conditions. On all sites the 1987 Manual will also b
 e utilized to compare and highlight any changes in analysis. We will a
 lso identify strategies to present to the Corps if a site meets the Re
 gional Supplement wetland criteria, but not the 1987 Manual criteria. 
   The class is taught by Marc Seelinger, PWS. Marc has been teaching s
 tudents how to delineate wetlands since 1993. For over 25-years he con
 tinues to work with consulting clients helping them understand the tec
 hnical and regulatory nature of the wetland rules. This gives him \"re
 al-world\" expertise that he shares with his students.   This class is
