OKLAHOMA CITY – Police officers confirm that a man killed in a car wreck early Wednesday morning is the former CEO of Chesapeake Aubrey McClendon
On Wednesday, firefighters were called to a car wreck on Midwest Blvd., between Memorial and 122nd St.
Officials say one person died at the scene when the vehicle hit a bridge in the area.

On Wednesday afternoon, KFOR learned that the driver of that vehicle was Aubrey McClendon, the former CEO of Chesapeake.
Officials with the Oklahoma City Police Department held a news conference on Wednesday afternoon, confirming the fatality is McClendon.
Capt. Paco Balderrama says police are still investigating the crash, but added that he was traveling at a “high rate of speed,” well over the posted speed limit.
Balderrama says McClendon died instantly from the crash. After that, the 2013 Chevy Tahoe caught fire.
“He pretty much drove straight into the wall,” Balderrama said. “The information out there at the scene is that he went left of center, went through a grassy area right before colliding into the embankment. There was plenty of opportunity for him to correct and get back on the roadway and that didn’t occur.”
The accident occurred less than 24 hours after McClendon was indicted by a federal grand jury.

McClendon, 56, retired from Chesapeake in 2013 and became the CEO of American Energy Partners.

We will deeply mourn his loss and please join us in expressing our condolences to his family,” a statement from American Energy Partners read.
McClendon was also a partial owner of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Kinda odd that a person of his wealth and stature would be driving a 2013 Chevy Tahoe, don't ya think? I would expect someone like him with his hundreds of millions (or billions) to be driving a Range Rover or BMW. Must have been some faulty steering mechanism on his government motors vehicle that went bad, caused the accident, and rupturing the gas tank resulting in an explosion just like the Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.

Yeah, I don't know why people are questioning the car... I've been thinking this all along... Company car. SUVs and trucks are popular with the oil companies so they are able to drive out to work sites. And if not a company car, who's to say he didn't own a Tahoe along with multiple higher end vehicles?

Has anybody not ever watched fiction movies? He is not dead! How much money was he worth? He knew the possibility of everything that was coming his way years ago. Don't you think in this day and age that he had paid big dollars to have more than one person to have their dental work done to match his not knowing that this was the ultimate out come.
Do you think with his money that is that far fetched? If you have that much money He had years to create a new identity, siphon off plenty of billions to an off shore account in a new identity account? He is long gone and will be forgotten but, Has enough money to live millionaire rich in an other country.
Think about it. Your a billionaire. You don't think that someone is not coming for you? Yes he cheated and stole poor peoples money He is not dead by any means. I will never ever believe that.
