HI Sam.  I read Matthew Santiago's post yesterday, and there was no mention of OPEC funding, thus I posted the above, which was brand new news at the time.  

I see that the  Has anyone seen the trailer for "Promised Land"  topic now also includes the above link, but the newshound in me is quick to point out who posted it first, and that a "Have you seen a movie" topic is different from a "Guess who funded the same movie" topic.  :-)

Ron: The more coverage the better on this topic. I still think the major news media needs to get on this. I also think its worthy of the attention of our elected representatives. If people really got their teeth into this outrageous action by Matt Damon and the United Arab Emirates, perhaps at least some people would finally wake up to what Hollywood really stands for. I do not have any contacts  in the media but assuredly someone who posts to this site does. I will continue to read and be informed by your posts. Sam

I have a great idea for a movie screen play:

 

Rich American Actor betrays his country by accepting money from an Arab Shiek (with ties to Qatar, the World's largest Liquified Natural Gas exporter) to make a propaganda movie under the guise of a romantic drama.

The true purpose of the movie is to attempt to brainwash Americans such that they weaken America by preventing it from achieving energy independence (while at the same time protecting the Shiek's investments).

The movie makes false accusations about hydro-fracing in order to encourage America to self destruct by abandoning America's best shot at energy independance and America's best shot at reducing America's massive negative trade balance.

To help assure success, the Arab Shiek channels al-Qaeda money into the movie and into the marketing of the movie.

If successful in killing hydro-fracing, America will become increasingly dependant upon energy supplied by countries whose interests are contrary to America and American values.

If successful in killing hydro-fracing, America will be sending much of our wealth to countries that in turn provide a portion of those monies to al-Qaeda and other enemies of America.

If successful in killing hydro-fracing, America will have fewer resources to defend itself from outside attack.

For his efforts, the rich American Actor (traitor) is given his own "palm shaped" Island off the coast of Dubai.

 

Well, maybe this would not be a commerically successful movie; after all, who would believe an actor could be so venal as to betray his country and betray his ethics by pushing false propaganda for simple financial gain?
