in WV how long are the drill permits good for also does the oil and gas company have to show a proposed lateral direction in the permitting process  THANKS    WGA

Hi William - My understanding is that the permits issued via WVDEP are good for 2 years and if that time expires, the company can renew the permit. You can find the weekly approved reports via WVDEP website, I've pasted the link below.

For the second part of your question, the permitting process is pretty extensive and a plat, showing the well layout along with a host of other infomation is required for WVDEP to approval a well. You can follow the second link below to view a map of the state, locate where your property is and see if any permits have been submitted. On this map you will see wells that have been submitted but not approved and if there is something in your area, you can email the WVDEP and ask them for a plat of the well, just provide the well number / api and they will send you the plat via email. If you want the full report, they charge a fee to print it out and send to you via the USPS.
