The jobs average $71,661.00 per year.

Not very Damn many I would guess.  Lots of Texas plates and oil field type trucks around last year and into this.  Out of state pipeliners as well.  I cannot speak for the hot spots down south however.  IMHO

That's average salary ( $40,000 - $100,000). So yes that figure is accurate.

A point that I'm not sure folks realize... Just because a truck has out of state plates does not mean the driver isn't local. My husband and the others working out of his office are all local, but the company trucks they use are licensed in the home office state.

Thank you for that point of clarification.

The growth in employment in Ohio has been masked by the vehicles they drive. Plus most of the office personnel are local.

Further, I have meet many Ohioans who were able to return home to Ohio because there were jobs thanks to the Utica Shale development.

It is the anti shale crowd that keeps perpetuating the false talking point that the only jobs created went to people from out of state.

MJ,

Another point:

Many people assumed there would be this massive tidal wave of new employment.

Instead there will be a gradual build up in new jobs, we may never even notice it much. But, after a few years we will be able to look back and see tens of thousands of jobs created due to shale development in Ohio.
