Windmills kill marine life and can produce more CO2 then coal fired power plants? - GoMarcellusShale.com2024-03-29T06:50:45Zhttps://gomarcellusshale.com/forum/topics/windmills-kill-marine-life-and-can-produce-more-co2-then-coal?commentId=2274639%3AComment%3A411790&feed=yes&xn_auth=noUS, Not all peat bogs are lev…tag:gomarcellusshale.com,2013-03-06:2274639:Comment:4128662013-03-06T20:15:16.057ZDanhttps://gomarcellusshale.com/profile/Dang

US, Not all peat bogs are level. The earth has shifted since the bogs were formed. The slips have caused draining. I don't think there was ever intensional draining. The point is windmills and solar panels have been put in place with the asumption they don't have negative impact without impact studies ever being done. Only recently have concerns of impact been studied. The rush for alternatives have been fueled more by feelings than science.

For every ton of cement used to make concrete, a ton of co2 is put into the air. The earth produces about 94 -97% of all the co2 produced (depending on your sources), just the normal decaying of matter. To think that mans' production of co2 causes global warming is absurd. Add that to co2 is only a small percentaget of the global waming gas (if you believe it is global warmng gas), only 3-6 percentage points of the global warming gases.
None, except it may make NG power plants happen sooner. Wrong reason but maybe a good outcome for cleaner NG power.

Not only that, Dan, when the windmills are NOT moving, power plants support them because they cannot be left 'idle' as it is then high maintenance to repair them - kind of like a wheel which gets rusty when not in use. Know someone who lives near them who explained how it actually worked.

US, They have to build a road, bring in the windmill, pour a bizzillion tons of concrete and dig a huge hole to put the concrete in. The bogs there are not level. Once they disturb the bogs or the hills slip the peat dries out releasing the CO2. How much concrete does it take to keep the windmill from blowing over. Maybe they can just float the windmills on magical unicorns. How much more to keep them anchored in the ocean floor. You can be damn sure if an oil rig disturbed as much…

Slept down the mountain when they were running steadily, a number of times. Some of the group were bothered by the noise, but where we were, it sounded like a jet, high up, only rhythmic. Not a problem, I found it soothing. And I'm from a VERY rural area, where noise at night is minimal. I think placement makes a big difference, these were on top of a mountain range (small mts, sure) with many valleys and trees to break up noise.

I can see nearly 40 windmills on top of a range near my home. I have camped right down the mountain from several--I don't see the problem with them being near people. And we have enough wind. As to the other statements, I couldn't speak.
