I own a parcel of land outside of warren center in warren twp in bradford county and am interested in a gas lease. Whom do I contact? Also got a letter in the mail from Geokinetics about my property. Any info on that would be appreciated also. Thanks, Brian

Contact Chesapeake in Towanda (or Wysox - not sure which). They are leasing in Bradford. Talisman (formerly Fortuna) was leasing but I'm not sure if they are anymore. Same with Chief. There are others in your area but I'm not exactly sure who. The best place to call is the Towanda courthouse recorder of deeds. They see all of the deeds as leases are added and they know who is currently leasing. Plus they are really nice there and will do their best to help you. Also, Geokinetics is a company that does seismic testing. I did not let them test on my property just in case they found it would not be an optimal place to drill. I figured if the gas companies found that out, I would not be able to lease. On the other hand if it was a great place to drill, I could have used that to negotiate. I was just thinking that I would rather get the lease first and let the leasing company do what they need to. Finally, if you are approached by a gas company get an attorney. They know the ins and outs and could really look out for your rights. If you want the name of a good one, let me know through this discussion thread. Hope this helps.
It is so true that you will need a good lawyer to negotiate your lease for you. Remember that when you sell (lease) your sub surface rights you are also selling your surface rights also. This means you need provisions in your lease concerning pipeline, compressors, meter stations, water ponds, power lines and access roads. Remember there are only a few lawyers that have been oil & gas lawyers, But since the Gas rush started all of the lawyers in Bradford and surrounding counties have become experts in this field. Your lawyer must understand how to read the most important clause in your lease and that is the royalty clause. Good luck and always protect your interest
Brian - there is a group forming and conducting Lease discussions for Warren Center and surrounding areas (like mine in Pike Township just to your south. )

This group is using the model of sorts and legal representation as was just done in Friendsville. Hopefully someone with their information can provide same to you for your information.
Brian: Have you tried contacting any of the companies? DId Geokinetics want to do seismic testing on the property? You want to make sure you have a good lease to protect you before you enter into any contract. Even with the seismic testing you want to make additions to the boiler plate agreements that they ask you to sign.
Pam where can we find out about the attorney you are recommending?
He is the same attorney that did the Friendsville lease. Call me for his info - 267-210-3212
