The Pennsylvania-based company released its first-quarter earnings Tuesday ahead of a Wednesday morning conference call with investors.

Rex Energy lost $62.2 million or $1.11 per share during the quarter. Revenue from operations was down 44 percent and commodity revenue dropped by a third from the same quarter a year ago.

Production from Rex wells was equal to 200 million cubic feet of natural gas a day, up 7 percent from the fourth quarter. Oil, condensate and natural-gas liquids, including ethane, accounted for 38 percent of production.

Rex spent $30.6 million during the quarter, nearly all of it on projects in the Utica and Marcellus shales. That spending was offset by $31.8 million in reimbursements through a joint venture with Benefit Street Partners, an affiliate of Providence Equity Partners.

In Carroll County, Rex drilled two wells, fracked a well and placed four wells in production during the quarter. The company had five wells drilled and waiting to be fracked at the end of March.

The three-well Kiko pad in Washington Township went into production during the first quarter. The wells averaged five-day sales rates equal to 1,300 barrels of oil per day. The production included 2.3 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, 502 barrels of natural-gas liquids per day and 369 barrels of condensate per day, assuming full ethane recovery.

The Kiko wells averaged 4,900 in lateral length and were fracked in 33 stages.

Rex is finishing its three-well Goebeler pad in Harrison Township and expects to begin production this quarter. The Goebeler wells have average lateral lengths of 7,360 feet. The company said it would begin fracking its two-well Perry pad, also in Harrison Township, when the Goebeler project is finished.

Rex has drilled 37 Utica wells in Ohio since 2012. The company is headquartered in State College, Pa.

A message from Brian Werner to all members of Carroll County, OH on GoMarcellusShale.com: Discussing the Marcellus & Utica!

I am in the Morsheiser 5H well in western Carroll County Ohio. Over the past year the NGLs have gone from being sold to being something that CHK is paying to get rid of. Over the last three months, the cost of getting rid of them is climbing exponentially (-$.29/gal in June). This almost offsets the price that they are selling the gas for and a with the current trend I am expecting the cost to get rid of NGLs to exceed the income from the gas sales next month. In June CHK netted only $.18/ MCF when the gas and NGL sales were combined. Is this going on with everyone in Carroll county, or just the Morsheiser 5H well? The Morsheiser 10H well is also in production from the same pad, and I'm wondering are those land owners seeing a similar cost?
Enervest's Cairn 5H well unit almost abuts the Morsheiser 5H unit but they are continuing to sell their products profitably at market rates. CHK is selling gas at lower prices than Enervest to begin with, so that just makes the negative NGL sales hurt even worse.
Utopia East West Pipeline (Kinder Morgan Cochin)tag:gomarcellusshale.com,2015-08-11:2274639:Topic:6920332015-08-11T14:49:20.414ZINVICTUShttps://gomarcellusshale.com/profile/rstlun

I received an offer for an easement for the Utopia East (Kinder Morgan Cochin) Pipeline. According to the landman, a single 12" line is to be laid in the 50 foot wide permanent easement. The offer for the permanent easement is less than $10 per foot. My property is located next to Conotton Valley High School in Orange Township. Has anyone else received an offer?

It appears my lease has been broken unless they haven't sold any of the oil and gas yet. How do I find that out?
Most of the leases in this area are old Cinton leases like mine so there may be others in the same boat. lee twp. leasestag:gomarcellusshale.com,2014-08-04:2274639:Topic:6081382014-08-04T19:12:33.600ZINVICTUShttps://gomarcellusshale.com/profile/rstlun

I'm trying to get in touch with the user 'Utica Shale' I was curious as to why their data on Columbiana County wells was removed from this site. Anyway -if you are still out there I wanted to let you know that I had visited your discussion frequently & miss my access to this helpful info! Is there any way this data can be re-posted? Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction!

We are in a Unit that went into production in late january according to ODNR well logs.

We have a SURE lease with Chesepeake

I also know from reading court house records that our unit was sold to 4 different companines.

We have heard not one peep from any gas company regarding royalties or asking for a signature of a division order.

Can anyone share weather their SURE lease was honored without an argument or not? I sure do appreciate it.
