I own 48 acres in the yellow creek area near Hammondsville. The last offer we had was in the spring from Chesapeak. They offered 100/acre and 1/8. We didn't sign. If any other land owners in my area would like to join together I think that would be great.

I just joined this group and wanted to touch base. I own property near the brushcreek hunting and fishing preserve (35 acres). I was just offered recently from DPS Penn 900/acre 16-1/2%. What are some of the offers some of you are receiving? I'm debating whether or not to take the deal, any insight?

From the county engineer section I looked at a report of applications. There are several Marcellus Shale well listed and to my surprise Utica Shale and the Oriskiny Sands. So far the Marcellus Shale thickness has been showing between 80 and 100 feet in Belmont and Jefferson Counties.

My father was offered 100 per acre, and 2 farms over they have committed to 1000. If there isn't communication between land owners and an understanding of this process by the landowners and attorneys then you will be at the mercy of the gas companies, and believe me they are not going to look out for your best interest!

I believe the key is for owners to band together as they did in Northern Pa and NY. There is a group or 400 landowners in WVa that has turned down $3000 per acre with 1/8th. Here is the news article:

In Jefferson County my uncle was offered $10, $25, and then $100 per acre at 12.5% royalty. Should we try to spread the word somehow not to agree to such low offers?

I live in Columbiana Oh and we was offered 250 an acre for 20 acres 3 days ago but i dont know from who because he wouldnt say who he was with because of competition. He did say he worked for kenyon energy but that they dont drill, just do leases. The royalties was 12.5 but that was before they take out all the other costs and then split with the other landowners. I think i would rather hold out than take it but i cant find anybody in my area who is doing better or else to call. maybe somone has some info that would help. Thanks

I was informed that I could get 650 per acre up front for my land but I'm still holding.

a deal just got signed between mingo and Rayland for 250 an acre. The land owner did not do any research and couldnt say what royalties they got. Not that they wouldnt tell me they we not sure.... 70 acre plot.
