Here is a link to a discussion on the WV Landowners group.
Last week's Ritchie Gazette had a great editorial about this, pointing out how unfair this would be to mineral owners who take the time to negotiate a lease and who, under this bill, would be forced into a lease once 80% of the net mineral acres are leased, the lease terms determined by a committee including a representative of the oil and gas industry.
Please check out the link and write to the senators and delegates involved. Ritchie's Woody Ireland is a sponsor. In the past he has fought for the rights of mineral owners, and helped defeat previous bills which were worse, but this bill is not fair to those who want a fair lease.
The House Judiciary Committee is voting on the Forced Pooling Bill known as HB 2688 this Monday morning. Mr. Ryan Weld is currently undecided which way to vote. His vote could be the deciding vote!
Those who oppose forced pooling should email Ryan Weld.
