<strong>Hello, Im wondering if anybody knows what the gas companies do if they swap your lease with another company. Reason I ask is I have a lease with Range in Davidison Township and I read that Range and Cheaspeake have swapped 8,000 (i believe) acres. I have contacted Range and are waiting for a return phone call but I wonder if anyone might know. Do they let know if your land has been swapped out or do you have to find out by going to the court house? We do not live back there so the court…</strong>

Can someone who owns say 50 acres of land of which 2 acres is included in a unit sign up the 48 acres at the end of the lease. I have been told you can and that you can't. What is the truth?

<div>Hearing that Sullivan County is the "hot" spot for Gas Companies (G/C). We all know that while leases are set to run out the G/C want to tie up land. Looking at maps on DEP would suggest that the Shale here is deeper/ better than outlying areas? Also the annoucement of the Marc I has to be a factor even though it completion is so far off? Is there some other major pipeline for the feeders that will have to come from each well site? Has anyone been approached about pipelines or other…</div>

Looking at maps on DEP would suggest that the Shale here is deeper/ better than outlying areas? Also the annoucement of the Marc I has to be a factor even though it completion is so far off? Is there some other major pipeline for the feeders that will have to come from each well site? Has anyone been approached about pipelines or other encroachments for their land? Wondering if there is more to it since hearing about several sub contractors from the G/C are now saying that Sullivan is the Hot spot and that they (contractors) have had a new urgency put on them by the G/C to get things moving? Any other thoughts or conversations with G/C or contractors? Seems like people are talking to neighbors and of course not hearing anything from G/C since everything is to remain so hush hush about what they are doing. Let's start sharing information on this web site so people can be a little more informed. Maybe something you heard or have been told may not seem like much but who knows maybe someone else reading your info can add something to have things become clearer or help someone who is dealing with the G/C on something else. Seems like the more the residents talk and stick together the more that we all benefit from sharing stories. Anyone else hearing that Sullivan is "THE HOT SPOT" for Gas (oil) ? </div> From the Associated Press - "EPA takes new look at natural gas drilling" --Thoughts?tag:gomarcellusshale.com,2010-07-21:2274639:Topic:365572010-07-21T15:12:08.281ZTom Shoemaker, DVMhttps://gomarcellusshale.com/profile/Tom765
This is a new article (Found in the Sun Gazette - July 21, 2010) regarding more testing/environmental impact studies regarding the fracking process, among other things. My opinion is that more information and study cannot be a bad thing. I don't understand the frenzy and the urgency at which this gas rush is occurring. Obviously we are sitting on a huge natural resource that has implications for the entire country, but what will we (the residents of Sullivan County) lose if we take a step…
Obviously we are sitting on a huge natural resource that has implications for the entire country, but what will we (the residents of Sullivan County) lose if we take a step back, stop the process and really take time to explore all our options/consequences. THE NATURAL GAS IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I feel that if we are landowners that are sitting on a prize so valuable that makes the Midwest boys scramble up here by the thousands, we owe it to ourselves to make an excellent decision. Why not hold out for another year or two? During this time, we can really assess the current state of the environment, potential risks, and more importantly take time to have the legal documentation in our favor in case an environmental disaster happens. An secondly, more practically, and of interest to most people...why not hold out for more money!!!! Everyone is happy settling for $5000 an acre or less. This is pocket change to these companies, especially when you know that you have something the gas companies want, the resource is ours, and it is not going anywhere. <div><br/></div>
<div>I am for responsible drilling, however, I do not think we are even close to that stage yet. Please learn from the past consequences of lumber, coal, and oil industries worldwide, and most importantly Sullivan County's past. We all live here because it is a special place and we love to hunt, fish, hike, paddle, and watch wildlife right in our backyards. Even if the gas companies say that the fracking process is benign; you cannot let yourself believe that. Every action has a consequence. A small earthquake using sand, water, and chemicals to free up natural gas has a consequence. Increased traffic, pollution, and water use on a delicate ecosystem has consequences. Please, let's slow down and make an informed decision so that Sullivan County will continue to be the excellent place to live, visit, raise a family, and have a comfortable life.</div> hearing tales of permits being filed...tag:gomarcellusshale.com,2010-05-24:2274639:Topic:304552010-05-24T17:31:08.044Zbeth hammhttps://gomarcellusshale.com/profile/bethhamm
I have been hearing that several permits have been filed for Sullivan but have yet to see them listed on the DEP site. Does anyone have a way to keep up with the permits without having t wait until the monthly updates by DEP? Also receiving the email updates from DEP bu they just give a number and tell you it has been changed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

<p>It also says, "The MARC I would open Sullivan County up to the extensive Marcellus Shale natural gas development that is being seen in Lycoming, Tioga, Bradford and Susquehanna counties as the producers would have access to a large interconnected pipeline system serving the major natural gas consuming northeastern United States."
