Brian-    I received your review/analysis today.  Thank You so much for your help!  It is much appreciated.  I will spread the word when I see my neighbors.  At least now I know the dog is safe when he drinks the water....we'll stick to bottled water.  Thanks again!   alw

Is it not true that this has been the case for years? It is a naturally occurring thing. What we need to do is be vigilant that operations do not intensify it beyond the "natural conditions" we have all loved about the area all these years. The Chesapeake tests are quite comprehensive.

 

The testing being done will:

1) identify pre-existing contamination and

2) provide a base line that can be referred to when dealing with future contamination.

........thus the need for Brian's services.  I now have a base-line and a complete interpretation of my well water issues.

........Brian helped me define "natural conditions" of not only methane, but of every other chemical found in my water.  I support the water testing by Chesapeake but the exstensive data is useless if I don't understand it.

Could you give us more information, such as they already drilled my area, planning to drill neighboring area etc.  Also it may be helpful to indicatate what area you are in in the County.  Could you post the results and the interratations so we can compare them and learn from them for our own.  I don't have anything yet for myself in the way of testing of anything.

Our first test (and only one so far) shows small amounts of Manganese. It and everything else tested for were minuscule compared to "standards". In the words of my chemistry professor son, "You just paid 400 dollars for a hard water test, and we already knew ours is."

 

The Chesapeake testing is much more comprehensive, but they have not done ours yet, but they will be. They test everyone within (I heard) 4,000 feet from any ground disturbance - driveway, pipeline, drilling.

There is a well pad to be started shortly just 500 feet from my garage - on the neighbor's property in Cherry township, Drake Road, just a few hundred yards from the Bradford County line. Interesting how land owners want things as far as possible from their house/buildings, out at the edge - but that is right behind our house. Don't blame them really, but we will have to be vigilant. At least we'll be in the unit for sure! (I've seen the map.)

 

We will also have a short section of driveway, and some pipeline.

Doing the best we can to keep watch, that things don't get permanently destroyed.

This was the point and goal of the Citizen Groundater and Surfacewater Database.  This would provide a confidential way of evaluating and compiling the data.  If you are interested, please send me a copy of your data.  I will review and provide a summary based on the results and available information for the area. 

 

Also - if I get enough for a specific area - I will be happy to come to the community and conduct a more detailed review.  I am located in Luzerne County, but I have been working in Pennsylvania for over 20 years.
