Interesting.  Is there a pipeline there?  Thanks for the info.

Brother-in-law worked with them and they are harsh to deal with.  However, if you hold out, you can up your %/bonuses.  They have given out as high as 21%.  I did not take the time to research any new permits, but they are working the Troutville area near Big Run pretty intense.

I'll answer my own question from September 14th, apparently Hanley and Bird sold to Exco since their building near Brookville has the new Exco sign in the front.  Where are these new permits in Jefferson County and does Exco have anything to do with them?  Has anyone worked with Exco?  What are they like to work with?

Looks like things are starting to heat up in Jefferson county. According to DEP more marcellus shale permits are being obtained this year then any of the surrounding counties. Looks like we might be sitting on a sweet spot !!! Good drilling depth for both marcellus and utica shale.

Has anyone noticed that Consol Energy has been issued 24 well permits near Big Run?  Any news about their plans for development of this area?

Has anyone heard about Hanley and Bird selling? Do you know to whom they might be selling?

Anyone hear anything about the Humphrey wells being re-entered near Treasure Lake?

Matt,
I don't have the specifics, but the miles referenced, i.e. 4.5x2.4 doesn't add up to the other reference of 30 square miles. I do know if I take Kyle Lake and use it as the southeast corner of the seismic testing area and assume the 30 miles is the more accurate figure, it seems to encompass the 125 acres of land I own that a company wants to do seismic on. Also, it is for Exco/North Coast. This is one of the companies that has interest in Jefferson and likely has a lease with some larger landowners. The seismic testing also referenced Pine Creek, which is a township outside of Brookville. My suspicion is the land holder is the owner of the large tract of property I reference as the Sulger area. There has been exploration in that area. Hope that is helpful. Wish I owned the gas on the property targeted for seismic. They get a little further north and east and I might get something out of this eventually.

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of properties that have not leased in Jefferson County? I am a landowner and am interested in an informal group to exchange information and eventually lease.
