Thank you for adding that Rose. I think some of those are wells that I heard about yesterday, really great to see it in print. This is really exciting:

A third horizontal well is expected to be spud in the fourth quarter of 2012 in northern Washington County.

  • Rose Moore

Dee, here is some more info. in the Marietta Times today

I heard SEOLA signed that group in Washington for 4k an acre? Did it ever go through?

  • Landowner

    Steve Wagner

I hope I'm allowed to tell some of the details.

Depending on the Township, some signed for $4000, $3500 and $2500. Most townships have 19% market enhanced royalties.SEOLA negotiated a great deal for us!!

  • Landowner

    James McDowell

Good to hear Steve. Has everyone signed off on this deal?  Hopefully we see more progress through the rest of the county soon.

    Thanks

  • Landowner

    Steve Wagner

Everyone I talked to signed it.
  • Rose Moore

Congratulations Steve!  Has anyone heard anything about leasing for the townships or acreage that weren't in SEOLA's last signing?

  • Landowner

    Steve Wagner

Rose, I have not heard anything from other groups or anybody. Seems quiet lately
  • Rose Moore

I agree Steve, it does seem very quiet.  The last my family heard was at the meeting in September, keeping our fingers crossed something will come about.

  • Landowner

They are actively working on the current deal at least. Got an email last week that some document had been lost and had to have another one notarized and mailed. Not really about other groups but thought I'd note that stuff is moving forward with the current SEOLA deal.

    Steve Wagner

    What township are you in?

  • Landowner

    Dee A

    You mean Rose right Steve?

  • Landowner

    Steve Wagner

Yes, I was trying to remember what townships they haven't leased yet in Washington county..if any
  • Rose Moore

Hi Steve we are in Marietta township

  • Landowner

    Darrell Cochran

Steve, Grandview township has not been leased yet...but from what I am hearing SEOLA is close to finishing a deal.

  • Rose Moore

Hi Darrell, Do you know if it's just for Grandview or is it also including other townships  (marietta)  ?

  • Landowner

    Darrell Cochran

    Hi Rose,

There might be multple deals she is working on.  I believe she is trying to package Grandview Township in with some others but I don't know all of the details....wish I could say more but it would only be pure speculation.  I believe that good things are coming but we just have to be patient...easier said than done.

  • Rose Moore

Thanks for the update Darrell that's encouraging news!  The landowners extension my family signed will be expiring by the end of the month so I am hopeful that there will be some news or an update by then.

Does anyone know of a land group to join for someone that has land in Fairfield Twp?

  • Landowner

I have checked online information for a telephone listing for Dux Petroleum and Dux Petroleum, LLC. There is no telephone number for either of these listings. Attorney Wells should at least be able to post a telephone number for those wishing to contact DUX??!!

  • Landowner

    Samuel J. Orr

I neglected to add that I specifically searched Lubbock Texas for a telephone number for Dux Petroleum and/ or Dux Petroleum, LLC, this supposed leader in the O&G exploration and production business, and came up with NOTHING. We are waiting Attorney Wells for some answers!

I seen where they did the seismic testing from Mconnlesville down RT 60 to Lowell then turned onto RT 530. Anyone have any info on this testing? Thanks!

I just wanted to let you know about an upcoming Seminar Series through the YPE called Energy Industry Training Series- It’s 12 part series, although you can just attend one or two if you like. The first Seminar is in June, and gives a complete overview of both the Marcellus and Utica plays.

    You can learn more here!

I am guessing the DUX deal did not come through?

I have 190+ acres in In Washington County is there any active leasing?

  • Landowner

    Rick Rudolph

Contact Doug Mallet at mallettdoug@hotmail.com. He represented us for our land in Marietta area. His company is MNW Energy. They did the deal with Triad Hunter for 32,000 acres in the county.

  • Landowner

    Rick Rudolph

The DUX deal is dead. We had property in the deal and the leases were never closed.

  • Oil/Gas Pro

    Jeni Kroll

MNW is who we went through as well.  A family friend owns it.  And Triad is paying!!!  Good luck to you Mike!!

  • Markus

Very quiet on this Washington County OHIO board - anything going on of interest?

  • Landowner

    Samuel J. Orr

Did Vortex Energy LLC pay any of you folks in Washington County? Vortex is the company John Wells and SOEC tried to promote after the DUX fiasco. I am told a lot of  folks in Pleasants, Wetzel, and Tyler Counties in West Virginia  signed leases in favor of Vortex. Supposedly these folks are to get paid by the end of January or so I am told. Vortex Energy LLC  was formed in June 2013 and like DUX is a shell company with no assets, no phone number, no history of drilling wells and no ability to drill any wells etc.  etc.

Mike McDowell, regarding Utica in Ohio, I have 80 Acres in Washington County in the Dunham Township Area, West of Marietta.  I will advise you if I hear of anything and would appreciate it if you advise me as well. thanks.  Roy

A friend of mine from Waterford was approached by a company (TGS) to do seismic testing on his property. Anyone know anything about this?

  • Landowner

    Samuel J. Orr

Did Vortex pay any leases in Ohio. Vortex Petroleum LLC is the Delaware corporation formed in June 2013 that Attorney John Wells and SOEC were promoting after DUX paid nobody. Like Dux, Vortex is a shell company with no assets, no history of drilling wells, and with no ability to drill wells. I pose this question because apparently Attorney Wells may have taken his traveling roadshow to West Virginia and it appears that man landowners in Pleasants, Tyler, and perhaps Wetzel County signed leases in favor of Vortex. Supposedly thousands of acres are involved but to my knowledge none of the leases have been paid.

I very, very strongly suggest that anyone who has property in Washington County who has't leased yet, contact SEOLA. They got a GREAT deal for many landowners there last year. Including an amazing lease with an excellent company. We were paid very quickly. This company is now in the process of pooling in order to start some drilling, and when I called them a couple of months ago, they were looking for more acreage there. I didn't lease my land without researching for years, but this was a great bonus and wonderful lease with pages and pages of landowner protections. http://seohiolandowners.org/about_us.aspx

Who to contact and How to find out what Leases exist on the properties in Washington County?  Are Leases on file with the County Courthouse?  with the ODNR?  Anybody know who and what to contact?

It does not make any sense to sign a lease with one outfit if all of the neighbors, who would need to be involved in the POOL, are signed up with somebody else.

Also, lots of the Land in Washington County are under 1970's era leases that are producing little or nothing on shallow wells.   Are these Shallow Leases, paying hundred or even tens of dollars per year sufficient to hold the current mineral leases for the land?   IF so, has anyone already gone to the trouble of hiring Legal Council to break the Leases via the Pooling Clauses?  If not,  Anybody want to?

  • Landowner

    Rick Rudolph

Contact Doug Mallet at MNW Energy. They have closed deals with Triad Hunter and Protégé. Their group has done an excellent job and are very professional. His email is mallettdoug@hotmail.com

  • Landowner

    Roy A. Wagner

Who is MNW Energy and who is Triad Hunter?  What do each of them do?

  • Landowner

    Dee A

When we signed with SEOLA, there was about 14k plus acres in the deal, in just the northern part of Washington County. I know it's a good deal higher now. I have little doubt, this company has the most acres signed in the county so far. But, SEOLA can answer a lot of questions for you, with no strings. All I can say, again, is that I'll never, ever be sorry I signed. My life has changed so much this past year, all for the better and mostly due to the bonus. And, if they don't have a producing well in about another 3 1/2 years, I'll get the same bonus again, or be set free to sign with another company.

  • Landowner

MNW = Landmen. Triad Hunter is a division of Magnum Hunter out of Texas. Triad is drilling in and around Washington County.

  • Landowner

    Rick Rudolph

Triad leased 32,000 acres around Washington and Noble counties

  • Landowner

    Dee A

MNW isn't a name I'm familiar with. The company we signed with are drillers, backed by some serious New York cash.

  • Landowner

    Rick Rudolph

They are based in Marietta. Sat in a meeting with them and about 100 other land owners when they closed the 32000 acres. Check back issues of Marietta times, news release on Triad and the leases was reported

  • Landowner

    Dee A

People signed up with landmen? That doesn't sound good for the owners.

  • Landowner

    Dee A

Curious what kind of bonus they got and if it was paid.

I'm at work though and busy day. I'll have to check back here later tonight.

$4250 and acre and 18 3/4 royalty and yes they are paying.

  • Landowner

    John Dennis

I meant an acre. There were no landmen to deal with, only MNW who handled everything, even clearing back leases. I had no gripes at all.

I think everyone is quite happy with who they went with, the leases, and bonus.  It doesn't matter who your neighbor went with and should have no bearing on who you sign with.  Do your research and sign the best lease you can negotiate or your land group can negotiate.  The oil and gas companies will then do some parcel "horse trading" to complete drilling units.  Its the only way to get a "common" 600 acres.
